Lol you guys play with the colours screwed? :P just close explorer.exe before running it and reopen when closed using ctrl alt del. There's also a batch file to automate this. Just search google for it

What I do is run the game in 640x480 and 256 colours. (I also run it as admin, but that's just a habit of mine.)
You can run the game patched n' whatnot, and I only have to alt+tab every so often (that meaning about every 5 or 6 times I actually open the game, start playing a custom game/campaign and the colours get all messed up).
I've got W7 32-bit Ultimate, but I'm not sure if it's different in 64.

I still have the original disks. :P
But I know a solution to that crazy color issue. (Like Maul said)
Just write a small piece of code so when Starcraft starts up, windows explorer shuts off.
I use Windows 7, and it's done wonders.
Go into notepad and copy paste this:
taskkill /f /IM explorer.exe
C:\"Program Files (x86)\"StarCraft"\"StarCraft.exe"
start explorer.exe
Then save it to whatever name you want, with the extension of .bat [Example - PlayStarcraft.bat]
(This method will only work assuming you've saved that startcraft installation folder to the default spot.)
Then when you want to play Starcraft, double click on the file you just made, and tah-dah.
PS. To stay on topic, go get the original. I've been playing it since I've gotten a computer about 10 years ago and it's still exciting to play.

Go for it. It's a great game. But from what I hear, it is pretty strange to transition from SC1 to SC2 but it will be well worth it.

I found a way around that, use this as a shortcut for the game.
64 bit Windows

32bit Windows

It's the bat files some of you mentioned, I'm uploading them.
Ill have to make that a thread later in the Broodwar section.

Buy it. It's cheap, and it's very good. You should had buyed it before, as now you won't have enough time to play the SC1 and BW campaigns. SC1 doesn't have matchmaking, so going online will probably result on you been utterly destroyed.
