Good thing they at least warned us about that.
And I really hope they will make it possible to watch old replays. Hell, do we need to start a RIOT every time they do something wrong to kick them to the right track?

I expect the gameplay will have changed too much for old beta replays to be relevant at all tbh...
Other than for the sake of argument, would you watch SC vanilla replays now?
The 'famous' beta games are forever on VoD anyways so there's no risk there. The only downside is that there are always commentator voices if you want to make a complilation, but you can just turn that down and add your own sounds/music.

And what if I want to watch my own games? They are more dear to my heart than pro's games.
What my friend felt, to which I've lost 300 PvZ in BW half a year ago, when he had the edge the whole game in SC2 - I've lost Stalker army to his Hydra/few Roaches while trying to micro four Colossi the best way possible - and then I took him down in the last 5 minutes by warping and storing up a hell lot of Zealots - absolutely priceless.![]()

Well in that case your could re-install the game, then manually patch for each existing patch in phase1 except the last (you can find those online in standalone form).
Quite a hassle if you ask meBut for the rest there's mastercard.

@Santrega: you can watch any replay from phase 1 with patch15, so that's not a problem. And replays from phase1 aren't saved into the same directory as replays from phase2, so that shouldn't be a problem anyways.

Well, I was just asking in case they are like this in the launched version. Say that is like 1.1, after a patch any 1.1 games can't be played on version 1.2 and then same for 1.3 and so on.
If that is how they handle the replays, it might be a good idea to have a version number actually recorded on the replays so we know what version we need in order to watch it.
I'm not exactly sure why you would allow it for some replays, but for some reason phase 2 is different than any other patch. I would think they'd either allow it, or they won't allow it. If they don't allow viewing replays on newer versions, then the version number should be noted in the replay file.
Please stop the spread of Mass Effect!!!

Blizzard has claimed on countless occasions that old replays will be compatible with current release. I'm gonna be pretty annoyed if they don't deliver on this promise with the retail game. That would be a cruel Bazinga.
