No, they aren't. They are two races combined. Zerg and Protoss. There is no other race in their DNA.

They may not have direct Xelnaga genetics in them, but they have been genetically programed that should their DNA combine in the correct fashion that a Xelnaga would be the result.

I don't think you quite understand what exactly the Xel'Naga are doing. They guide the evolution of two species so that they naturally combine to form a new "perfect" race. The Xel'Naga as a species do not actually exist anymore. They create a new race that they use as their next generation. They don't magically form into the species that the Xel"Naga currently are. They are a completely new hybrid race.

Now this is the part that we don't know. Do the Xel'Naga somehow possess or take control of this new species? Or do they simply teach this new race their philosophy and whatnot and this new species becomes the next generation of "Xel'Naga"?

I did actually. Nowhere did I say that the Xel'Naga weren't trying to create their next generation. I'm saying that the hybrid race does not have any Xel'Naga in it as far as we know. It is Protoss + Zerg, not Protoss + Zerg + Old Xel'Naga. Just because the Xel'Naga guided the evolution of the two races, it doesn't mean they are a part of the new race.

I concur...The Hybrids just look like an ugly, direct mix of a Protoss and a Zergling/Hydralisk. I expected them to look like a RACIAL mix of both, something unique, unsettling, and different. It's just a Protoss mixed with a Zerg. It's as if they didn't bother to make them look unique, they just threw in a Protoss with Zerg features...All those ugly concepts made by fans of Protoss with teeth were ridiculous...Then I saw that the Hybrids actually are that...Bleh. How disappointing.

And how is this thing supposed to be powerful? It looks like it's stuck and can't move really well, as if it can't do martial arts and be very quick and at the same time resistant, like a Protoss or like Kerrigan.

As for the Xel'Naga/Hybrid Destroyer (Whatever race it really is), it looks like a Dark Templar in some strange angelic DT powersuit...

you know, they could be perverted hybrids and not the true hybrids the Xel' Naga wanted. The Xel' Naga were masters of genetic manipulation. It's plausible that these hybrids are not the true hybrids as the Xel' Naga envisioned.

That's true, but ironically, the Overmind assimilated the old Xel'Naga over Zerus, so it actually is possible that the old Xel'Naga are in the Zerg DNA (though that doesn't mean they're being used).

I've always maintained that the Overmind was doing nothing outside its "programming" when it assimilated the Xel'Naga; that the Overmind was taking them "along for the ride" as it sought to complete itself.

With the Overmind's old instincts and directives now taking precedence over Kerrigan's petty pursuit of revenge, perhaps this is the Xel'Naga encouraging her to bring about their rebirth.

Well 106/108 and 43/108 look very similar to the hybrids.

Does that mean that the Duran Hybrids are closer to Xel'Naga hybrids than we thought?
