Right, I know it's like that in the books, but often what happens in the books doesn't materialize into game lore.

Be prepared to be very surprised then because I'll wager a great deal of what we've been told in Frontline and the DT Saga is relevant to SC2, especially the latter which was written specifically to build up the game's main plot.

Anyway, I'm wagering that the creature in the middle of the portraits is a Hybrid. I highly doubt Xel Naga look like that.

You do know that the Hybrids are the new generation of Xel'Naga right?
The Xel'Naga are a race that cannot reproduce, as such over their rediculous lifespans that search out species with purity of form and essence, combine them and create the new generation. The protoss and Zerg are meant to merge - however these Hybrids were created through an alternate method.

That 'thing' could be an earlier experiment, because duran said he only figured out how to do the process correctly after he met Kerrigan, I'd be surprised if we dont encounter some of his failed experiments.

Besides it just looks like a protoss with a effed up mouth, disappointing.
