Good idea to stop trolls, bad idea to promote a community.

As anyone else noticed on http://blizzforums.com/, there's a link to sclegacy? Looks like we soon will have a flood of new members.
Erm, BF was originally the SCL forums.

Your source for sound, logical and reasonable responses.

    You cannot be sure

Everyone said that before with facebook integration, Thor, etc. but remember there might be even more stupid things in the future

Lol imagine if they would implement something this for sc2 ingame usernames ,you wouldn't have the option of chosing your username or identifier anymore, but instead it would be your full name , taken from your real id.

I am inclined to agree. What do they hope to accomplish? I think they should've at least used e-mail addresses as internal identifiers while leaving the posting to display usernames. That might have worked better. I am totally with Blizzard on their intention to eliminate trolls/flamers, but this just isn't the solution.

TRD is right, most of older members here have their origin at Blizzforums

Mass Effect Universe Fan, I support Mass Effect 2 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 for Game of the year award! ME2 still is being the best rated game this year! Keep it up

Not necessarily. If people are afraid to post with their real names because of trolls, but this gets rid of trolls, what reason do they have to not post anymore? For the people who continue to use the forums they may feel closer because instead of just talking to "bigballslol16" they are talking to someone named Steve. People will begin to feel less afraid of being flamed and will show the non trolls that left with the initial 'purge' that there is nothing to fear because of the fact that nothing had happened to them while they had been posting on their real name. The community might shrink at first, but after awhile it could become stronger then it was because everyone would not have to be fearful of just being who they are.
I realize that I change my signature often. All I can say to that is: SO??? HAI FIVE!! (*・∀・)/♡\(・∀・*)

If you like anyone's post, be sure to give them additional rep.

The fact that any random POS can stalk me on facebook makes this idea bad beyond belief...

As an adult male, I don't care who knows my real name. But what about kids and the rare female gamer? Does Blizzard really want that kind of liability of their entire gaming network being able to look up real life info? Female gamers will constantly get harassed with attempts at real world communication.

And it takes very little information to turn a name into a street address.

For once, I have found a topic I can speak on so much I won't justify it with a wall of text...

I'm not afraid of being trolled on the forum, I'm afraid of what those people can actually do.
