They're doing terrible, terrible damage to our privacy. (sorry, had to do it)

But truthfully, I'd be less concerned about this RealId thing if they blocked search engines from spidering the forums. I'm less concerned about revealing my identity as I am about Google bringing people to the forums if they search my name.

This is something I can agree with. The content of the forums should be 100% closed to anyone who doesn't have an active account with the game in question.

Not just that, but it should be excluded from search engine crawlers so a 10 page thread complaining about a balance change doesn't show up on the first page of Google when an employee searches my name.

Helluva lot better than kosher. All that you said leading up to this was above kosher as well. You kept to the discussion. ^_^ I'm not saying people should agree with Blizzard, just respect them. It's a very basic concept I think everyone gets, I'm just reminding people it exists as I see this thread possibly degrading over time. That's all.

Agreed again. Also, is anyone watching Futurama since it's reboot? The most recent episode is quite topical for this conversation.

Posts from Zhydaris regarding this subject: (please note this is from the Italian forums and as such is translated with broken English but the message remains)

    Hidden Content:
It 's a radical change in the way we see the Forum on the internet, that's for sure.
I do not know what to expect exactly, because it is a really big change.
My hope is that in one year we will be back here to discuss this announcement and how this change has affected the behavior of people on the forums.
I hope that the climate becomes more conversational and less aggressive, I realize that the deal every day with real people and not a forum nickname to help foster constructive dialogue.
We'll see what the results, it is a very ambitious project that is more about the future of this.

That said, I understand your concerns and your concerns.
For me there will be a big change in the end, because I already worked for companies that require me to write using my real name, and I had no problem whatsoever, so when the time comes to post using my name I happy to do so.
Each employee Blizzard has their name clearly visible on the manuals for our games and we've never had problems, are not particularly worried indeed.

I'm not here to try to change your mind, I will not enter the discourse of privacy because everyone is free to quantify the significance of their anonymity as they see fit.
Some people decide not to post, others decide to do it anyway. I hope that over time spread awareness to discuss person to person using your name is not that dangerous and that the practice taking root, because honestly I see too many people abuse their anonymity to ruin or insult other discussions people.

This is the way we decided to undertake, is ambitious, will discuss long and will not be something that will be resolved quickly, but we are confident in our decision and hope that time will prove us right.

Someone asking about Real IDs on Bnet 2.0 or in SC2

But I want to know if this thing will be seen in game or not .. if in some way .. people can get to my name via Bnet 2.0.

I would also like to know if using "John Doe" I guarantee the same can have my copy, if I scammato or anything else.

The Blizz has chosen this path? well .. xo '.. privacy is a personal thing .. I want to play and contacts of a certain type nn interests me anything .. zhyd sorry .. and do not consider myself a troll nor any other ....

SC2 dream for too many years .. we wanted a game .. not a social network to attract money on the money ..

Blizzard seems one other company ...... Activision's hand is seen ....

I will see if all those people opposed to Real ID, players of WOW we stopped to pay their fine .. pg as a failure?

I do not know .. but the only thing that interests me .. is that I will always be free to make my choices .. liquids do not give you any real information, neither you nor to player, without losing the rights sopracennati.

CI earthen really have an answer to this ..

    thanks in advance.

For privacy, there are friends "is not Real ID.
Your name appears only in your profile screen and that of their friends Real ID.
The concept of Real ID is what Friend of a friend who already knows your name, and then not discover anything new.

Do not confuse the game with Battle.Net 2.0, the game is minimally affected by such decisions.
You can play quietly with your nickname in the match and all the charts that will appear will Nickname.XYZ.

Providing false information likely pose problems in management accounts, as always (and every company, not just us) is required to consider your real name as owner of the game. This is unchanged. Providing false information has always led to problems and continue to do so.

More questions about Real ID on Bnet and SC2

So I'll be with friends who aveer my data and others who do not have them?

Exactly, share your name with only those who know him already, or people with whom you want to share.

    Quote:
if I understand it will be so ... between RealD ID you will see .. but if an abdominal through a game for example .. I see only his nickname ..

Exactly, only the nickname because it will not be a Real ID Friend

    Quote:
further questions .. but. ZDO after nick .. 1 thing is to distinguish not influence the nick .. cmq or will ever show up?? I'd heard that were 3 numbers .. nn is genuinely very nice to put 3 numbers after the nick .. not all love the numbers in the nick .. also in this pt of view .. I SEMT limited to the maximum .. letters were better .. I hope those will remain ..

Normally you will see only your nickname. During the games, screen load, etc.etc.
The 3-digit code will appear only in your profile to allow a distinction between Tizio1 and Tizio2.
But in most of the screen you will see only your nickname. In this way people are accustomed to using very common nickname can still select them, we think the 3-digit code to draw the distinctions
    .

    Quote:
Last thing .. to write data to the blizzard .. I have always been available .. for me you could find a middle ground .. I hope it will be so .. you instill our data you will always have available .. mods to ban trolls c etc are just .. you put the option that everyone decides whether or not their data instead of feeling on facesc2 ...

Providing a middle ground would fail the primary purpose of this choice. As I explained in my previous posts, we are trying to change the game forum something different and this is the only way to do it.

Also realize that the reason I hold my opinion about this subject is because none of the arguments either apply to me or worry me. I am not more worried about being stalked or spammed more than I already am, and in my field of work it is very normal to play video games. Not to mention I am who I am and do not care what others think of my gaming habits. But I will keep you all posted if I see anymore posts from Blue's regarding this subject since you all are concerned about it.
I realize that I change my signature often. All I can say to that is: SO??? HAI FIVE!! (*・∀・)/♡\(・∀・*)

If you like anyone's post, be sure to give them additional rep.

I think I'll just stay away from any thread regarding real ID for a while.

It's all BS over in the TL thread about it, and it's the same BS here. I'm not seeing anything new. Everyone is rehashing the same damn thing that I've already read 10 times. How am I not surprised that Blazur is at least the 5th person complaining about an employer searching up his name? It's absolutely hilarious how a few days ago TL featured an article about someone who got a job because his employer was a TL fan just like him, and everyone was like effing awesome. Now it seems like all the rage just to hate on this real ID system because of possible employers having biased opinions about gamers.

Really, the most disgusting and despicable of all people are those hypocrites who search up private information about others (such as Bashiok) to prove their point about the problem that could arise. Not only is it harassment of the representative, I think it just gets blown way out of proportion. Everyone is paranoid about their own security just because a game forum uses your real name to post in it? I think not. Everyone is just using this real ID forum policy to add more fuel to their anger at Blizzard more than anything else is what it looks like to me. If you don't like it, don't post. I've seen ridiculous posts on TL bringing up topics such as AT&T illegally selling people's information out for profit and Blizzard in the future having the possibility of "buying your privacy". Do either of these sound even remotely realistic? Don't answer, it's rhetorical, because the answer is no.

    It's all pretty pathetic.

I'm complaining because I understand how the web works. The employer searching for you is just one realistic scenario people are concerned about.

Over a decade ago I posted a question on a random Internet forum about a particular keyboard. To this day that still shows up on the 2nd page of Google when searching my name.

How am I not surprised you would pull attitude in light of the complaints of 90% of this community? Post your real name right here if you have no problems with it. Otherwise you're a hypocrite.
