If the 2495 figure in HD is correct, then there's probably only a year between John and Liddy's deaths and the start of GW. His Shiloh family are another matter. Shiloh appears to now be a Dominion world, but it could have still been invaded and even purified. Mar Sara and Chau Sara were resettled after all.

Not all marines are resocs. A lot are simply conscripts or volunteers.

Seriously a lot of people join the military IRL just because of that.

XD yeah but most times that third-world country is full to the brim with people who will fight to their last in order to kill you and your fellow soldiers (Vietnam anyone?) And also, remember that in SC2 Zerg and Protoss have been innactive for at least 4 years, which means that the marine corps just seek a colony world which is being hinted as rebellious to invade and take it's possesions
