I missed the boat on Anime as a whole a very long time ago...

I always had a soft spot for Macross, though, but is that really considered traditional anime?

My biggest issue with most anime is that the translations from Japanese to English are usually just so goofy.

Yeah, you guys may have liked DBZ, but that was a BAD anime lol. It's a bunch of guys that take 20 episodes to do anything, while powering up looking like they're massively constipated (although that may be why it was also awesome). But oh well, we all like DBZ the same reason why everyone likes Gundam Wing (even though every fight scene was rehashed throughout the whole series). It just has that awesome factor.


But seriously,
Fullmetal Alchemist is actually very good, same with Code Geass.
It's naive to call them emo. They have amazing character development and plot development (although I did like the FMA manga way more).

But Deathnote was bad lol.

Anyway, nothing holds a candle to Avatar: The Last Airbender cartoon. But everything looks like gold beside that piece of crap movie.

Also, I never said fullmetal alchemist was emo.What I said was all anime is either emo or worthless. Which means, in my opinion, fullmetal alchemist is worthless from what I've seen. I hate anime and always will but sometimes I get the urge to try something new but that never lasts for long. That being said, there's certain qualities about anime that, even if the subject matter is not emo, it still most certainly is. Skinny, androgynous sensitive males are emo. I can't understand why anyone would tolerate that bullshit.

But apart from that, It's all great. And I mean really great.

Naruto has it's moments, but is destroyed by fillers, just like Bleach and One Piece.

DBZ is just way too long for me to care to get into. I saw the very first series, but I got tired of it.

Anime fails on levels that most countries are simply not capable.

Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood is actually the anime series loyal to the manga. Awesome art quality in it, too.

Also, Gundam 00, Code Geass, Dragonball Kai, early seasons of Bleach (up to about episode 64) are animes I gladly recommend.

Despite preferring to watch anime with subtitles, I can't listen to Dragonball in original Japanese audio because Goku sounds like he drinks Helium. Awful voice choice for his adult form.

Only anime I've ever liked was DBZ.

Mine were: DBZ, Full-Metal Alc, Hellsing, & Inyuasha (last 2 arnt exactly "for children" animes so eh)

All were awesome to watch as a kid, but now eh, i think 17 is a bit old for cartoons.


Btw Grad, im shocked as hell but, apparently cartoon network is REHASHING the ENTIRE dbz series. I saw my younger bro watching it and he said "hey bro, look at this awesome new show on tv! Its the best!" *facepalm* Right now they are on the first few eps...it makes me cry. Literally - SAME lines, SAME actions, IMITATOR'S VIEW on art style, and CRAPPY voices. Well, there goes my childhood .....oh and they are trying to spin it different by calling it DBZ: Kai

It's the only anime I know of with fairly masculine characters with the androgyny kept to a minimum. Granted, a lot of the reason I liked it was because I was young but, as far as anime goes, it's the most compatible with me.

Chris Sabat, the badass voice actor who voices Vegeta, once said that DBZ is never actually over: they'll get done recording, and then you'll see the smoke billowing, and everyone is waiting to see if it's finally over, but no, DBZ is still there after the smoke clears.

Personally I liked DBZ but I can name quite a few animes that were better than DBZ, like someone mentioned earlier it took forever to get anything serious done, as in the fight outcomes. My favorites list is a little like this:

Code Geass
Gundam Wing
Gundam 00
Evangelion
Elfen Lied
Ghost in a Shell
Blue Gender
