I haven't really read this thread, but I just want to point out that that video's ridiculous . It's just....

I mean, it's cringe-inducing watching that stuff! I'm not necessarily disagreeing with the author's beliefs, but I think that he/she is going about it the wrong way.

The author just says: "look, anime character's heads are shaped like this - oh look, the two images of caucasian women that I picked to prove my argument (and which I imply are representative of the vast majority if not all of caucasian females) don't fit this particular mold. These female Asian faces, on the other hand, do fit the mold, therefore most anime characters are supposed to be Asian."

Basically, the video, impressive as the editing may be, hardly makes a convincing argument. =/

It was a pretty good anime with a "manly" main character that wields a giant sword and he kills shit.

Code Geass (main character is kind of a pussy, but its an interesting story)
Death Note
Akagi (anime based on mahjong, only the first half of the series though... second half is a bit silly)
Samurai Champloo was pretty entertaining as well.

You know whats gay? Caring about the physique of men, rather then how this physique effects your standing with the opposite sex. In Japan, women are attracted to a graceful man. I see no problem with men assuming a style that boasts their attractiveness with women. I'd stop projecting my own insecurities on an entire culture if I were you.


fyi different cultures have different perceptions of beauty. Our own western culture used to make men wear powdered wigs. Pretty was used as a denotation for men and handsome for women.

I actually thought he was quite ruthless. If by "pussy" you mean deceitful, underhanded and manipulating others to fight his battles for him, then I agree. But that made him pretty bad ass in my book.

Lelouche (or dedouche as I like to call him) was definitely a pussy if you mean he never does anything himself and gets everyone else to do things for him. But he IS a man in the fact that he let his best friend stab him to death in the end of the anime so the world would achieve peace (and this guy is freaken 17).
