Thread: Finally, The Vuvuzela Has A Purpose

... Can we call Tassadar the Between-Night-and-Day Messiah instead? Or perhaps the Vespertine Martyr?...

I heard a lot about Twilight, and certain aspects of it appeal to me (the boyfriend having to cut his unborn demon-feotus-baby out of the girl with his teeth being one) but I also read that the characters are as far from realistic as you can get. I mean, the girl has completely unrealistic expectations and apparently has no motive in life other than aspiring to have powerful figures fight over her.

    Yes. Moving. Truly.
    Aaand sold.

Be it through hallowed grounds or lands of sorrow
The Forger's wake is bereft and fallow

    Is the residuum worth the cost of destruction and maiming;
Or is the shaping a culling and exercise in taming?

The road's goal is the Origin of Being
But be wary through what thickets it winds.

The Vespertine Messiah has a certain ring to it (albeit a somehwat mediaeval one). Would be cool if they'd refer to the Dark Templar as the Vespertine Clans though (since we've already got "Twilight's Hammer Clan" in WarCraft).

Let's just say that Twilight has vampires that sparkle in the sunlight and are "vegetarian" because they feed on animals instead of humans. There is no other book so popular in which they were trivialized to such a degree. On the other hand it doesn't have much in the way of drama or visuals for the movies to ruin...

Unlike the Harry Potter books. It's just enough to remember they rejected Terry Gilliam as a director, which already was a pretty sure sign as to the mind boggling mediocrity of the movies.

Haha, that reminds me. Tassadar became a so called Twilight Templar because he used both high templar and void energies.

Does this make him a twilight movie fan

I think it's just very, very demographic specific, aimed at teenage girls, everyone else just get's caught in the crossfire. There are literally chapters describing just how sexy Edward is. It's an awkward read for a guy. It's better than average in terms of a story about abstinence though, the vampires make it entertaining, on a simple story level. The suck blood, or not to suck metaphor is a handy sex analogy, which it clearly is, more so in the book than in the movie. That being said I really don't like it (definitely wouldn't read more than 1 book between college classes), but at the very least I think it's fairly well written, and respectable for a teenage romance, I just think teenage romances are terrible as a rule. That includes Romeo and Juliet.

/ontopic-By far the best vuvuzela usage I've seen. Epic execution on that prank.
Agreed on all points Roland..except Romeo and Juliet...Best ending of a teenage Romance if there ever was one. They both die. Yay!!!

I've seen both of the current Twilight installments and tried to read the first book. Couldn't get through it. It is definitely written toward the teenage female demographic. The movies are what they are (cliched, over-dramatic and chocked full of some truly lousy acting). But my wife likes them so I'm getting dragged to the third movie tomorrow. Everyone say a prayer for me.

I prefer TrueBlood, which constantly pokes fun at itself and rarely takes itself seriously. It's far superior to all of the other vamp crap out there now IMO.

True Blood is pretty campy but its light years ahead of Twilight in every way.

    Sookeh!

That was so scary people literally peed themselves? Watching Aliens when I was 8 was scary, that's cliched and creepy at best. People need to get their imaginations under control. All I saw was a girl in a doorway.
