    Default StarCraft comic continues, and Ghost Academy 2

    Simon Furman, author of the StarCraft comic, has confirmed that the second arc is being scripted, and is "definitely ON".

    In addition, Ghost Academy 2's page on Tokyopop has been updated with the usual "slideshow" of the first 21 pages.

    I thought they canceled it. What are the reasons for this sudden revival?

    I was kinda hoping that had replaced the staff working on it...
    Aaand sold.

    Be it through hallowed grounds or lands of sorrow
    The Forger's wake is bereft and fallow

    Is the residuum worth the cost of destruction and maiming;
    Or is the shaping a culling and exercise in taming?

    The road's goal is the Origin of Being
    But be wary through what thickets it winds.

    They didn't really cancel it; rather, they said something unclear. They never even said why they "canceled" it.

    Originally, the comic was supposed to go for at least 12 issues. (I'm guessing 14, but the subscription was for 12 issues.) It was divided into two arcs, with the first arc taking 7 issues. (The same format was used for the older World of Warcraft comic.) Each arc was expected to have its own volume. (For instance, all four published Warcraft arcs were given their own volumes, and the published StarCraft arc was given its own volume, too. These are sometimes referred to as "graphic novels", although they are not "original graphic novels" since the're just repackaging older content.)

    However, at a certain point DC Comics decided to change the format. (According to Furman, this was an editorial change, although it certainly slowed down his scripting.)

    The monthly StarCraft and Warcraft comic series were both canceled. Both were said to be converted into original graphic novels. Simon Furman confirmed this to be the case for StarCraft.

    StarCraft was canceled at the first arc, and Warcraft was canceled after the (short) fourth arc, with Special #1 tossed in. (This meant the Alliance (just a continuation of the original series) and Horde subseries were both canceled. Of course, this could mean there'll be an Alliance original graphic novel (series) and same for the Horde.)

    I thought the reason was that they wanted to turn the comic into a manga.
