Default Your ping to B.net servers

So we got/(had) a lot of discussion about the cross-region play.
But what about comparing the ping we got to each servers? I read a few post's on beta forums and we can try this:

*I deleted all the unecessary information and only the relevant ping. You can keep them in "hide" tabs for less walls.

I live in sweden and play on EU servres this is my pings:

*How to read this? I thought it was clear and easy at first, but when I saw some of the pings getting -lower- like USEAST going from 119 -> 100 the next time.
And as I see I got atleast 5 times better connection with EU then with the other regions.

I am in eastern Canada (Québec), so my gateway is useast. The 4 first jump are my lan and my ISP. After them my trace is in Montreal heading to Bnet server.

    EUROPE 14 jump, 162ms

    USEAST 13 jump, 66ms

    USWEST 23 jump, 140ms

ASIA lot of timed out, 247ms

Omg asia trace route os just messed up.

Wow, I got less ping to USEAST then you got to USWEST... I wonder how the internetz is connected globally. Through huge cabels in the oceans? Through satelites?

That's a trace route. You can do a ping to the address instead. It's easier to read.

They want a traceroute to see if some router in the way is the culprit of slow a connection.

I think that you can use the last 3 timings of the traceroute as the ping time.

There are huge fiber optic cables in the oceans along with high speed satellites.

Is that the first thing the sharks will cut when they decide to take over the world?...

Bnet is really weird for these things. During beta, after that UDP patch, I couldn't see much of a difference between servers. Before the UDP patch, it was really hard to play.

Back in Bnet1.0, when I had a slower connexion, I remember my connexion to bnet was more stable when I played on US east than when I played on europe (europe was much closer).

You can't bing battle.net server. They block all ping to prevent Dos attack, a trace route is more safe for them and give more info. Like the number of different server and hub your data go through.

I don't know the specifics, but I've never had a problem with lag during normal times so it must be pretty low.
