I believe the game is ready for a release, it plays fluidly enough and has pretty good overall balance. Battle.net 2.0 has all the core features working properly. Starcraft 2 is in way better shape than the first Starcraft was when it released.

There are always gonna be people who say the game isn't ready for a multitude of reasons because they want the game to be absolutely perfect which is impossible even for the first Starcraft which took many years of patches and continued support to get where it is.

Well said. In three or four years, a lot of this talk will be moot. SCII will either succeed, despite some of its limitations, or its millions of copies will end up collecting dust on desk shelves across the globe.

Afaik you will not need to play with the cd so it will collect dust. (since the cd-key is bound to your account so instead you identify with that instead of the cd) But that is just the way I thought it would work...

Yes, I believe the game is long overdue. They've got a lifetime of patches to correct the balance and improve upon the game, along with at least 2 expansions.
