Thread: Baneling Busts

That doesn't always work. Dimaga did Baneling bust even vs. Barracks and Factory, and he had ~13 Banelings, so he actually could destroy it.

Firstly yellow went rax before depot and invested in early reapers- those reapers failed him and he was set behind quite a bit by that- if it were a normal build and he still went factory he would have at least 4 hellions to the two he had by the time the blings came to his door. With those potential hellions he could have moved out to roast the lings.

I can’t remember just how much blings cost, but I’m sure 13 of them aren’t too good a trade for one barracks. Especially if yellow had played standard, because he’d have a much bigger force to kill whatever came in after the barracks went down.

Baneling busts need a scout. And then you have to go into "fortify" mode where you make a wall that cannot be broken. Personally the rack, fac wall is nice when you pump out a helion or 2 out which will thawt any push up your ramp for a sustained period. If they are going 13 banelings use scv to repair as well and throw down either more racs or a CC for a fast expansion so you can gain an advantage when the bust fails. Then push out with helions for drone harassment.

My whole point is that it is possible. If you are saying that if Terran played perfectly he wouldn't lost that much, I agree, but starting from perfect play is never a good thing, cause no one plays perfect. In the end, Terran won the game, but just because Zerg made some big mistakes, if he didn't make them, who knows what would've happened.

My point is that the Zerg should never have been in that position to begin with- it’s not the wall off that was ineffective- it deterred early bling busts. With 13bings, no wall will work, you need an army for that. It was the Terrans play, not the wall in that is at fault.

Zabimaru - Banelings are NEVER going to take out buildings for cost. You need 5 to insta-kill a Depot, and 5 Banelings = 250 minerals and 125 gas.

Early in the game, Zerg can out-produce both Protoss and Terran in terms of military units. This is why both Protoss and Terran need to wall off against Zerg. Protoss and Terrans need time to set up their infrastructure.

When you pay for Banelings, you're not paying to kill a building for cost, you're sacrificing a ton of cash to destroy that wall-in so that your superior early-game military can hopefully inflict irrecoverable damage on your opponent's infrastructure.

Also, all Ramiz is saying is that Baneling Busts are viable, even if they're not always successful. Nothing you said contradicts that statement .

Terran lost when he scouted and didn't see....and kept the 2nd factory.

Should have made a reactor with the barracks and attach his 1st factory to it and jack out hellions. The 2nd factory was trivial and he could have put in that bunker earlier.
    His build was risky.

And that strat is hardly cheese, how else can zerg get through terran walls. Terrans shouldn't be able to sit in their base behind the comfort of their walls and fend off with a marine.
He couldn't even get his hellions going and has a 2nd command center going, and then he loses and whines.

A reason for a bling bust is to get your sling in the base, that is why smart T will have hellions ready (make sure they dont get hit of course), even when the bling bust the front the slings are toast, before they get into the mineral line.

A wall off is fine as well, it keeps your opponents in so that you can expand, and you can use your bling army to sit outside this base at the expo.

Also, wall off is not that bad really, just Nydus in, I found more techniques like making 2 Nydus Networks and placing it at opponent ends of their base, if they see one, they will normally react to that one letting the other one pop up and then its GG. Nydus Network IMO is one of the best strategies that I heard a lot of other Z players never use.

You sit at your base and wait for your opponent, you have creep and your defensive buildings, you Nydus to your opponents base, you have direct access, it MAKES creep, and you can retreat to safely... Its amazing... USE IT!
