If I had reason to suspect that Blizzard was interested in tackling themes of such depth, I'd be right behind you. But I really don't think that's the case. There hasn't been a single piece of information released since SC2's announcement that's even suggested that Mensgk is anything but pure evil incarnate.
How I would love for Raynor to kill Mengsk, just to see the government remain AS corrupt, but become unstable to boot, causing the deaths of thousands of innocents that under Mengsk's regime got by. And he'd have all that on his conscience.
So I don't think it's 'Raynor's problem' any more than it's Frodo's problem that he doesn't have an actual plan for dealing with the Ring. He does have a plan. His plan is "do stereotypical Hero On A Quest stuff all the way to the finish line" and that's good enough.
This didn't have to be the case. Mengsk does not have a story to tell as of the beginning of Wings of Liberty, but many, many things could have happened to get him a story (and a new and interesting one, to boot). The only reason I'm siding with you on this is that Metzen has suggested as much, without even bothering with subtlety. So... yeah.
I do think they should keep him around, though, if for no other reason than that the SC universe is seriously devoid of characters, as a result of being based on a measly 1.5 games.
Cause we all know that Humans won the Human RoC campaign in WC3, amirite? And that Night Elves won the Night Elf TFT campaign. And that Protoss won the vanilla campaign. Yes?![]()

I really think it will end with Valerian in power, causing the Dominion/Terrans to shift focus to the whole cosmic cycle plot than with Arcturus who wanted to avoid the aliens entirely. Maybe under Val, Terrans will become much more of a player in the "Fate of Creation".
Also we have at least the names of the campaign missions and just a general idea about them but nothing too detailed.

i hear too much of it in real life. about how humans are a virus, how screwed up we are and how much we kill eachother etc etc. they keep looking at our faults without acknowledging our other parts...obviously we would rather be perfect but we are not and those kind of people have a hard time understanding or appreciating that. im not saying the person i quoted believes this but i hear it a lot in real life from people who actually do and i thought he might as well
