Dauntless, in all seriousness though:
No one expects the first iteration of Battle.net 2.0 to be perfect, with all the new features. We can, however, expect the old and useful features of Battle.net 1.0 to be in there, at least.
Imagine a car-producer introducing a newer version of an old model. They say it's going to be harder, better, faster, stronger. And sure enough, it's gorgeous, it accelerates a lot faster than the previous version and it handles great. The company tells you:
"Its safety features are awesome! It's going to be saver than any car ever; you'll be able to drive it into a concrete wall at 100 km/h and you'll walk away without a scratch!" Sounds great, doesn't it? Then it continues "But in the first iterations of this new car, we're going to leave the airbags and the seat belts out. 'Cause, you know, the new system we are working on is so much safer you won't even want those stupid old seat belts. So you tell them
"But, uhm, car company, I think it's great and all that everything is going to be so much better, but can't we at least have seat belts and airbags? They've proven their worth, and you already know how to make them. It wouldn't be too big a deal to just put them in there, right?"
Car company replies: "Well, that's true, and we value your input, so what we're gonna do is, you can take your car to the garage three months after you buy it and we are probably going to be able to install those seat belts. We will definitely install them at one point in time, but don't pin us down on those three months, all right? We want to perfect the new and improved system first. So until then, drive safely!"
You: " :-| ..."
This is pretty much Blizzard's attitude towards incorporating Bnet 1.0 features into the new thing. I am excited about improvements, but like that car-buyer, I really don't want stuff removed that has been pretty much basic, essential, and standard in any previous iteration, when there is no reason to remove it, or when it won't be replaced by something better immediately. Of course, in the case of Battle.net, all that's at stake is the gameplay experience, not your life. But still, are we allowed to expect basic stuff like channels and customisable nicknames to be in there? I think we are.
