Seriously.

I find a well-reasoned criticism (like StarCraft Legacy's extensive article) to be a much better way of presenting ideas than screams of LISTEN TO THE COMMUNITY or terrible posts like the "O Micro, Where Art Thou" (where some good ideas were drowned in rage, personal attacks, ego, rage, personal attacks, ego, and yet more rage). And then people wonder why their "opponents" respond with ... rage.

It's like writing a good opinion article in a newspaper.

Blizzard has stated that they wont have chat channels because of spam. Blizzard has stated that they cant pay for the moderators to control that spam.


Now explain to me how statement 1 has nothing to do with statement 2.

No he posited a non-official rhetorical QUESTION that helped illustrate to a users some of the potential problems of a open chat.

I don't think that post was worthy of a thread at all. It's not news. Anyone with a gram of common sense would realize that. So there's no good title. Although I suppose "we can't afford to moderate chat channels" is slightly better.

Bashiok why was the main reason for no chat due to spam?

Bashiok doesn't appear to be answering this question, but the one after. At least that's how it seems to me. Also, Blizzard already mentioned their alternates. (Even if you don't like them, you shouldn't essentially accuse them of lying.)

chat channels are obsolete and unnecessary if this can be solved.

Edit: While many people are claiming this isn't even a thread worthy topic, I'm pretty sure you missed the link to the ongoing discussion with Bashiok that, while very uninformative at the moment, still involves a CM discussing Starcraft II with the community. Many people may not have found it had it merely been linked in a different thread and not been presented as the main topic.

Speaking of which, Bashiok seems pretty bitter with the SC community atm, and I don't think he's handling the criticism from them like a mature employee of Blizz imo. However, it does sound as though he's not allowed to present new information regarding Battlenet 2.0's current state until he gets the go ahead from producers and other higher up.

Haha. Yeeah it's bad when they get sarcastic. sometimes. At blizzards level you really shouldn't do that. I guess I'm no person to talk, but if I was being paid to talk to people yeah I'd put on a smile and just keep nodding. You're being paid to take the higher road. To bad I don't get paid like that. :P

I still think this is thread worthy. I'm very concerned about chat channels. This is one of those things that to us is big, but to them is small. I want to see how Blizzard handles this through the steps. Right now it's meehh more to the dislike side, but lately I'm really hating on Blizzard. Why not? I'm giving them my cash, so they can just stuff it!

By the way, what he said is more or less what I said here . Really no surprise here. Spam is an issue whether you want to accept it or not. Banning is not enough. You think they don't ban spamers on their forums? Well they do and guess what? They still manage to come back and spam some more even if you ban their cd keys.
