Dude, they're rich. And who is going to be giving them trouble? Gamers? I'd say they're going to have a pretty easy life in society (if they learn to live properly instead of just being spoiled to the point of not knowing how to function without money).

He blames people for taking him out of context.
He didn't think people were listening, but admitted he likes to poke the internet.
He thinks being on top comes with the cost of being misunderstood.

6. Ask your daughters why they love the pictures, and what their statement really means. I'm not an advocate of turning Kotick into a scapegoat for all the ills of the gaming industry as many people seem to do, but on the other hand I do believe that he has to take a responsibility for his words, and I find it difficult to imagine that the gaming community's response has been so surprising (or hurtful) to him if he spoke merely in jest. Even a simple apology from him will go a long way. Besides, he could take being the subject of Photoshop pastiches with more humour, up there with Gandhi and Hitler after all (and there is no such thing as bad press as they say).

It's pretty weird. Being a business major, I can see where he is coming from and I actually respect him as sensible business man. He brought up Activision from making MechWarrior games to annual franchises that would take other companies years to make.
The fact that he can make a Call of Duty game each year (Yeah they're not VALVE Quality or anything, but they sure kicked the ass out of EA) and get people to buy em? I'm impressed.

But as a gamer, I feel like he's taken amany beloved franchises and ripped the soul from them. Cut-throat management and keeping the balance sheet tight by axing OctaneStudios for example, and anything else that can't pull it's own weight. Disappointing. I'm just afraid his business talk at the golf trips is gonna make Mike Morhaime (Blizzard) go that route too...if it hasn't already...

He shares the same philosophy as Blizzard, but his definition of "Prime Time" is different.
Prime time for him is breaking even on release day and a healthy amount of revenue to make up for 1 patch...anything else on post developement relies on DLC sales haha ...

I feel like I'm seeing everyone fall for the classic misdirection once again. People in the gaming industry focus far too much on the person. Whether he is the devil or not is besides the point. What is at issue is what decisions Activision has made under his leadership.

CoD development alternates between Infinity Ward and Treyarch each year, so each game really has two years to be made.

Although honestly, even if they only had one year, putting Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (X) and developed by Infinity Ward on the box is a guaranteed multi-million dollar baby. Hell, even putting absurdly overpriced DLC that only puts in maps and nothing else is guaranteed revenue, as shown by the two map packs MW2 has.

So Activision really has no need to put quality over quantity. Hopefully Blizzard will stay true to their roots with Sc2
