Thread: Four Warlords

    Default Four Warlords

This is a 4-player map, the first I've made for intent in melee play. High-yield expansions are on low ground surrounded by cliffs, making them easy to assault. Normal expansions exist in approximately the same locations but on the sides, and are vulnerable to cliff-jumping units. Each corner has two expansion spots, and destructible rocks block passage between the four corners. The central shrine connects the four corners normally. Watchtowers are set at the entrance to the corners, the central shrine and over the high-yield spots, but four of the towers can only be accessed via unit drops. They make great spots to watch the chokepoints, though. The red lines on the map are the tall grass line-of-sight blockers, since its hard to tell what they are from this angle. The "story" of the map is that it was once the sight of a great battle between four Protoss warlords.

Feedback on improving the design is greatly appreciated.

I ARE A PROPHET! I've predicted three major aspects of SC2 correct, more or less.

June 2007 - I predicted the Protoss campaign would give you new tech as you conducted diplomacy among tribes.

    Hidden Content:
July 18th 2010 - I predicted Raynor would broadcast information of Mengsk's actions on Tarsonis to discredit him and incite rebellion.

June 16th 2010 I predicted the Voice in the Darkness was the commanding force behind the Hybrids. I'm calling it half-right.

Seems alright to me, not that I'm any authority on melee maps lol. Could use some prettying up but the design seems sound.
I really need to change this...

The one change I think I'll make is a second pair of rocks on the top and bottom lanes. The idea is the four corners can't go directly to each other, they need to go through the center, but the current set-up allows top-left and top-right to go right to each other and same for the bottom.

And yes, the terrain will of course be prettied up, this is just to show the general layout.

Texture your map and it'll look much more impressive and have a bigger impact for first impressions.

Working on it, I'll re-upload a new image when I'm done.
