Out of curiosity did any of you ever play Starfire or read any of the books? The space warfare is far more realistic than SW or ST, and akin to early naval warfare with long attack distances and ship kiting, as well as the holding of important geographic chokes, which are represented by wormholes that let interstellar travel be possible in Starfire.

I love realistic battles in space way more than the SW and ST take on it. B5 and BSG battles felt so much more real, especially with all of the attention they paid to the physics.

Starfire actually sounds pretty darn cool. I was born in '82 so I missed the boat on a lot of the early table top games. Got into 40,000k for a while, but it was just so darn expensive. Not to mention all the painting...ugh.

I liked DS9 too. Especially the Dominion War seasons. So, if you want to debate sci-fi, come to ASVS and register!

I never was able to get into star trek. It's too old school and cheesy. The new movie was ok though but nothing compared to Star wars. Then again, I'm not really a star wars fan boy either so I wouldn't defend the franchise against star trek lovers. I'll pass...

Club ASVS, the descendant of the original Star Trek - vs. - Star Wars Usenet group ASVS, is seeking new members. It's not even a year old, and has over 100 members, which, is really nothing compared to several other forums. This is an invitation to all interested in joining. Already, myself and l33telboi have accounts there. (Even though we go by different names there - I'm Khas, and he's Styroks.)

Of course Star Trek - vs. - Star Wars isn't all that's discussed there. Other sci-fi, real science, and just everyday stuff also get talked about. Yes, StarCraft is one of those other sci-fi 'verses talked about there, though not too commonly.
