Just on the topic of mismatched backgrounds, I think your basing to much on the tint of the light, compare the structure and architecture.
It's not very clear, but you can tell it's the same basic cavern structure, if that Hydraliks wasn't be blown apart in the same cavern as Zeratul an Kerrigan, I'm betting that at the very least they're both in different Xel'naga caverns with the same architecture. Also, I don't know what you see that makes you think the attack is different, it changes from a orb to a spiral in just the Kerrigan shot, so it could easily change by the time it hits the hydralisk, and I think you may be mistaking Hydra blood for a feature of the beam.

I was hoping for a bit more content in the ad, but then again I'm happy with the new images of mutas and kerrigan and stuff. It's looking good!
I've never liked the new Zeratul, but all the other units (Zerg kerrigan, Human kerrigan, hydra, muta, marines, zergling etc...) look fantastic!

Oh yeah just found the exact quote on kerrigans wing getting severed.

wow the fact that I knew that kind of makes me sad now xDBoth characters trade blows--Kerrigan scores a hit on Zeratul, causing him to hold his arm (just as he does when he meets Raynor), while the Protoss manages to slice off one of her wings. Rather than retaliate, Kerrigan casually regrows her severed wing and calmly explains that the unavoidable end of the universe is coming. She then departs. Zeratul vows to find some way to avoid the culmination of the prophecy and climbs to safety. This ended our single-player experience with the game but also introduced many new questions, such as exactly what sort of prophesied end of the universe is coming, and how, as Zeratul suggests, Kerrigan represents the only hope of avoiding that terrible fate.

Heh, if she's at the "casually regrowing limbs" stage, Heart of the Swarm is going to be pretty fun :P
Always play with fire.

Yeah, I thought about that (i.e. the cave background); it just strikes me as unlikely that they would be standing in areas with such drastically different lighting.
Also, consider that in the trailer, Kerrigan is shown launching her fireball upward; but the shot that hits the hydralisk clearly comes in at a downward angle. So unless you want to posit something fairly contrived, such as that Kerrigan's fireball is actually an arcing shot that goes up and then comes down, that's just another reason to think that the two scenes are unrelated.
If I had to guess, I'd say that Kerrigan is actually firing at Zeratul in a continuation of this cinematic. (Note that the background environment in the linked cinematic is consistent with that of Kerrigan's fireball shot.)
