I really really wish I knew about this a week ago... At least we can have some fun in part 2 of beta.

I dunno if this is even something I'd want to use since you can maximise your damage by waiting for the perfect moment to explode. And all you have to do is keep an eye on the minimap (which is what you're doing anyways), and then hit X when you want them to blow at the perfect moment.
Good find nevertheless, but I don't think I'd use it tbh.

i might agree if it wasnt for something that Edfishy said, illustrating something important

Why did you have to figure this out AFTER the beta ended?

... Blizzard needs to display a unique icon (and allow a shortcut key) for auto-cast abilities.

... making a huge burrow-trap is indeed awsome. and it will brake the enemy if it succeeds.. done on large scale, its not at all a big deal to do it manually; it might even improve your timing as you can wait 'till there's a larger cluster of units above rather than pop them at first opportunity.

However, detection spoils this. most notably, scan spoils it. it makes a bane-burrow or any burrow-trap really, a very risky feat, even if done early. becasue you know scan is available

... however, done on smaller scale on less predictable points around the map, it wont be rational let alone profitable for the enemy to scan for burrow-traps.

this can make a difference in situations where there is mobile detection too; if you have good opportunities to deny that unit-based detection.

if this becomes a thing, it can also further empower burrow-move play by roach & infestor.

this is the srot f thing to push me towards the edge of wanting to go zerg again. (if only there was even a hint at Frenzy & infestation being reworked. they are so horrible!)

Like I said, bury them in pairs, a good scan's distance apart. The cost is relatively cheap, and the damage is oh-so-devastating.

Wow this is amazing... I guess that is why in some videos i see banelings come off the ground and charge in rather than to just pop while burrowed.

Its pretty good, there are alot of uses for this autocast. I suppose it only works for unburrowing, yet it uses the same icon?

I really hope Blizzard gives the burrow and unburrow different hotkeys like the siege tank does.

    Ok, WHAT. THE. FUDGE.

How did I not know this??? AAARGH! It's killing me that I didn't know this when the beta was live!

Blizzard must literally have been laughing out loud going: "oh man, these guys have no idea you can do this with Burrow!"

    Hmm I guess this:

I deduced this to be the case. Since it would have been discovered had it
    existed before this patch.
is the reason. They added it on the last patch which didn't give you a lot of time to find it anyways. Either way, it was never listed on patch changes, so you could be right and this was not discovered during the entire beta... and it would be as you said: "Blizzard must literally have been laughing out loud"
In that case... what other undiscovered surprises would SC2 have?

I really think it's cool that there's stuff in the game that Blizzard doesn't point out and let the players discover for themselves. It literally took years for everyone to understand fully how all the units of BW worked and the tricks you could do with them, ie stacking mutas, using patrol to attack slightly faster with some units, etc. Discovering things is fun
I really need to change this...

Something I really miss from Brood War is the whole geometric patrol thing that was (as far as I know) only recently discovered. It changed my Zerg game entirely so now it's a little weird to be without it.

I actually never updated to Patch 16. On the day it came out, I was reading the forums and read of the issue of not being able to view replays, so I decided to not log on .

It turns out that autocast unburrow is still there . If it was only implemented recently, it must have been Patch 15.

Also, it's really not useful for anything but Banelings. If you burrow Roaches, for instance, then if a Marine/Marauder army A-moves into it, only the first row of Roaches will unburrow and engage - you'll still have a bunch burrowed and not really doing anything .

Actually, I suppose if you just keep a single auto-unburrow Zergling on point to alert you when the ball is near, that'll let you manually unburrow the rest of your army when the time is right. Definitely something to consider, although a savvy Terran would scan once he saw that first ling unburrow .
