Conversation with my dad the other night when I told him Beta was ending and I wouldn't need to use his PC anymore:
I voted no. As far as I'm concerned, being able to take part in the beta, test out the features of B.net 2.0 and play the game before it gets officially released is its own reward. Getting a discount for SC2 though wouldn't be a bad thing in itself. But it would either be ruthlessly exploited so too many people tried to take advantage of it, or it would be so complicated involving ID and Blizzard email alerts to stores that it wouldn't work properly and would be confusing."So you need to buy the full game now right?"
"I will when it comes out."
"They should give you a free one just for testing for them."
I went silent as a million smartass replies went through my head.
"I got nothing for that. Actually I got too much for that and can't decide what to say."
"Well they should pay you for testing it for them."
"They did, they let me play the game before it comes out, that my payment."
"Well you should get a free copy anyway, aren't you a member of their board of representatives or something?"
"Huh?"
"You know, you write up stuff for them, go to the conventions for them or something."
"Years ago I did that stuff for a Blizzard fansite, what the hell would make you think I actually had a job with a large-scale video game company?"
"I dunno."
So, no. Be a neat bonus, but nah. The simplest way would be if Blizzard emailed some sort of print-off coupon to the testers, but people would try to find a way to exploit it and mass-produce copies for friends.
