I like the idea, it makes the market of new games stronger and it's a strike in the heart of re-sellers

oh yeah I forgot to add Bungie
and lol at Cliff Bleszynski who said that PC gamers are a bunch of pirates when people asked for GoW 2 on PC...like Xbox360 can't be pirated and Gears of War wasn't made on a PC...

some things doesn't make sense like I said

my advice for Blizzard developers, start thinking like gamers, stop thinking about succesfull product selling and money, start thinking about what is useful, not about something that is completly useless or from big selling numbers you guys will end up with a crying community about how the game is broke and less profit
what is good for a gamer is also good for you guys there, user friendly interface means more $$ not the opposite
so FFS start thinking because no one here wants this game to be a failure

Mass Effect Universe Fan, I support Mass Effect 2 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 for Game of the year award! ME2 still is being the best rated game this year! Keep it up

Gifted. I have polls showing over 94% support. Thats WE not me.

And second you can change the title if you want. No way in heck I can stop you. But those were Blizzards words not mine. Ask your self how many people assumed that cross realm play would be put in eventual? Thats cause of assumptions like the one you just did.

That's interesting now that I think about it. How does Blizzard imagine players are supposed to find AT partners until Clan functionality is added? Just play enough RT games until you hit it off with some random person and decide to /friend him after the game?

I mean, I'm part of a community and I have access to everyone's names right from this forum, so we can get 2v2 or 3v3 or 4v4 ATs going no problem. But for someone who doesn't have more than 1-2 friends going into the game?

Facebook can only do so much when that guy you had a class with once, a few years ago, is Bronze, while you're Platinum.

Sooo much time? The code to look up your facebook friends probably took a day to write, if that.

Or did I get it wrong, and it's just that they don't have any plans for it because there are more important features in the works that they definitely want to do?

Because I can understand that. Why bother with coding and testing chat rooms, when there are hundreds of more important features that are being worked on and implemented?

But then that'd mean they might make them in the end, after all the other features are done, but I don't personally see Blizzard doing that. That's why I'm wondering why they wouldn't implement chat rooms.
Let me explain with some important quotes, this should alleviate concerns/confusion:

Today: Frank Pierce - VP of Project Development

Another thing I thought you'd promised was chat rooms within Battle.net...

Nope. No plans for specific chat rooms at this time. You'll be able to open up chats direct with your friends, and when we add clans and groups there'll be chats for your clans and groups, but no specific plans for chat rooms right now. Do you really want chat rooms?

Loads of people within the community are wanting Looking For Group chat rooms, and that sort of thing.

Well, if we've done our job right in terms of the matchmaking service, then hopefully they won't feel like they'll need it for that service.
April 19th: Chris Sigaty and Dustin Browder - Lead Producer and Lead Designer of the SC2 Project

Ok, so second question. What are the changes that you guys plan on making to Battle.net for clans, because right now I don't see any. There's no support for clans and no clan chat rooms. A lot of people want to be able to get together in a more formal meeting place.

Chris Sigaty: So there's a couple of things. One of the biggest features that I'd like to see get in as soon as possible that won't be in there for launch is Groups. Groups is a concept of creating an entity like a map-making community so they can chat with each other and hang out. I don't have a date on that yet. It's past the tournament patch but its definitely one of the earlier features we'd like to see. Whether it happens in the patch or it happens in Expansion One, I don't know yet. There's a huge list of stuff on the Battle.net side that we really want to have happen but we don't have dates on it. Beyond that you're talking about actual constructions different than a group-like clan, I don't even have dates on that stuff, for now. I don't think that's in right now for the tournament patch.

Dustin Browder: So Groups we're viewing sort of as a social experience like if you want to get together with your friends or if you want to talk about anything. It's just sort of a group of friends or a casual group, just like Chris said. If its a mod-making group wanting to get together and discuss these things. It could be a hardcore Zerg strategy group. Whatever kind of groups you want to create. For clans, we're thinking more of a competitive construct. Something you would get together and compete with people in other clans. You would probably not have all of your friends, especially if they sucked, in your clan, but you could have anybody in your group and that would be fine. But those are all down the road.

You can grab the information from these two posts and conclude how Groups and Clans will have chatrooms. In other words, WC3 without the "stupid public chat channels" is what I perceive from the information.

I am just guessing and I doubt it was added in one day

I was talking more about chat rooms in general, especially the "stupid public chat channels" as you call them. :P

And lookie, I've edited my post.

Kudos to Arkceangel for the Terran avatar and sig!

Yeah, I think that's a strong argument for the existence of fully public chatrooms that aren't bound by clans and groups. When this game gets going, new people are gonna need that place for first exposure. If you can't even have basic chatrooms like that, then people are gonna feel isolated. It's frustrating to try to work oneself into a large established community like a clan or major fansite. Newbies need a place where they can feel a part of the madness by default, THEN they can start moving on up into higher places. If there's no point in such basic chatrooms, then there's also no point in having the official forums at battle.net. But there is a point. There has to be that initial entry. Then invitations to join strong groups proceed . . . and the rest is history.

    Thanks for clearing that up.
Archer, I don't think you have a 94% poll regarding how your reaction to my thoughts existed. ^_^ I'm just saying that at the end of the day, replacing your ability to speak for a crowd with just speaking for yourself allows your REAL intended messages to be a lot better understood. Your a very strong individual mentally, you don't need to use polls and mobs to get your point across as your individual opinion is what I value more. That's all.

Regarding the poll itself. I suspect that your poll exists on a SC fansite, such as teamliquid or here. I'd be more interested how it would be from a non-sc source, such as vg, destructoid or gamasutra. Personal thoughts at least. I'm not saying that b.net is implemented great at this time. I just feel that a poll from these sources are only grabbing ahold of a portion of the full community that will exist, much of which who work to follow it closely.

And second you can change the title if you want. No way in heck I can stop you. But those were Blizzards words not mine. Ask your self how many people assumed that cross realm play would be put in eventual? Thats cause of assumptions like the one you just did.
Oh, the change was regarding the chatrooms. I just changed it to "no specific chatrooms" instead (Which is in the question). If you look at the posts since, some people took that as "no chatrooms at all to be implemented" Which is incorrect. I see that you were trying to clarify on that in the original post.

Tsk tsk, gifted. You double-posted on the first page, and you're coughing in one of your posts. I can barely stand to hear you cough over the livestream. How could you possibly expect me to put up with READING you cough?
