Default Starcraft 2 Beta performance on Mac

Hey Everyone! I am new to creating posts so i hope i am not duplicating a thread.
I have a late 2009 Macbook pro with a 9600GT 512mb and i am getting pretty lousy performance. I run the game medium low and the game lags and feels as if the card isn't doing the best it can. Turning it down even further doesn't really have any effect on frame rate which seems very strange, maybe a slight frame rate increase but nothing too helpful. I don't have a windows partition, so if anyone has boot camp installed, maybe you could give me an idea to how SC2 performs under windows.

Have everything on high except for shader effects.

Also turn off portraits to 2D. and make Terran medium to low.

I get around 60-90FPS with my 8600GT MBP.

holy crap! my terrain is on medium, shaders on low, and only models are on high and 3D portraits. I actually don't remember the rest, but they are medium low and i lag super bad... HOW are you beating me with an 8600??? Do shaders mess with the lighting reflections? There was one setting i left on medium because it removed all reflections and lighting effects... don't recall what it was but it definitely wasn't "reflections". Are you running under mac os x?

3D portraits, turn them to 2D

I'm running 10.6.3 Snow Leopard, also make sure you install the latest update. x.3 has new OpenGL drivers.

Make sure you shaders are on low, shadows low, and lighting low.

9600GT should be able to run shaders of medium because of the vastly superior shader performance over 8600GT.

    Here are my settings:

    Textures on High
    Terran on Medium
Shaders on Low (shadows and lighting are automatically low)
    Unit Models of high
    Effects on Ultra
    Physics on Ultra
    3D portraits off
    Post Processing off.

hmm, i'll have to try those settings. I am running a fully updated system. Screenshot of what your game looks like?
Also, if anyone has bootcamp stats, that would be good to know.

Yes, Macs perform worse in this beta since it's been worked on a lot less but some of what you're saying makes it sound like the CPU. If turning down the graphics doesn't give you a boost then the CPU is struggling behind. Plus, I played StarCraft 2 on a 7600GT equivalent and it could do Medium at 60 FPS.

    Core 2 duo T9400 2.53Ghz
I would assume that should run the game very well?

I have a core 2 duo 2.4ghz and I've played 3v3 and 4v4. The only time when it really slowed down was in 4v4 where all 8 of us was fighting at the same spot.

MIght be the Mac OS. I have a slower CPU (2.3GHz AMD 64x2) and I still am able to play on High/Ultra with minimum lag.

I prefer to keep settings on Med/High for CPU-reliant features, and High/Ultra for GPU reliant stuff (since my Video Card is a GTX260c216), and I have the W7-Ultimate 64-bit OS.

I rarely ever get problems - except for maybe patch 13 where the performance does slow a lil. Some lag happens, but it is a lot rarer than what most ppl are experiencing.

I feel for you. To lag on top of having to settle for a Mac, ouch. Hope you fix it.
