Thread: The 2v2 Thread

One player committing to being annoying earlygame to cover for the other one is surely a good plan in general, and i guess speedlings are the most reliable at doing that, although reapers and / or early marauder/marine should have some potential also. (not zealots i guess; they are too slow early to do much else than brute-forcing?)

about double two-gate against zerg i gotta say that sounds risky; if scouted and actually stopped by instant baneling tech + static defenses or something, the delayed cybercores could prove detrimental to any sort of tech.-timing attack response. but i guess it depends; maybe you can scout well enough to judge the zergs very potential to counter with early banes, or to the extent that he does, minimize the impact of that with micro.

I don't know much about this kind of MP (or any ), but isn't it usual for everyone to attack one guy of the other team? Are the maps done so allies can send help quickly, or every team has one ally randomly took out at the start?

What if we merge the 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4 threads... just saying

some maps have shared chokepoints, some dont. allied positions are generally somewhat close though.

but obviously, this happens. its important to see it coming and be prepared.

Meh, or just a baneling or two...
Looks like even the last zerg could have won easily. Those first 50 gas needed to be invested in a bling nest and then he could have teched. It's pretty all in so the three guys have zero econ. I dunno if there are many good players in 3v3 though.

A tactic I have never lost with (almost) is a 10/5 zealot/maruder push, pushing as fast as possible. If the opponents ally is not there you cannot stop it. You do cut a few corners but the econ advantage is not detrimental and it puts you in a fine position to defend against rushes (switching to reapers if you meet 2xZealots). This tactic worked for me in 2v2 random top 10 gold and 2v2 arranged platinum top 20.
This tactic was before patch 13 (my computer went kaputz right around that time) so I do not know how it fares now. The one time I did lose with this tactic was on twilight fortress. We did maul both armies without taking substantial losses, but, the Zerg was able to produce an amazing amount of roaches in not time at all, with my partner (2v2 random) still having 2 gates at the six minute mark. The Zerg overwhelmed us while we were busy killing off the Toss. From that I learned that you always kill the Zerg first because it can macro out of control so fast.
