    Default Zerg: 1-Base 2-Hatch strat?

Have anyone found/used any working build with 2 Hatcheries at your base (+2 Queens), semi-quickly followed by expanding to the Natural (for extra minerals)?

actually, gifted demonstrated a lovely speed-ling build that some one had come up with (the name escapes me atm) which involves 2 hatching. Doesn't involve Natural expanding unless you fail thou I think.

^ Example of the build (well, replicated via experimentation)

Generally its not a good idea, you might as well drop a base in your natural expansion, when you get scouted with 2 hatcherys in your base, i can assure you, your gonna get rushed and die.=\

Yeah, I experienced that myself:\ However, I did feel like I could mass as much units as I wanted (if I had enough minerals obviously) and I really got more of a "Zerg" feeling with 2-Hatch.

The reason why to put a 2nd Hatch in your main base is because it isn't that vulnerable, and you "won't need" to saturate the mineral patches like you "would've had" if you placed it at your Natural...

and here comes the "with a semi-quick expand to Natural". This is so that you can keep up your eco for all that larvae.

For this to work though, my thought was that with 2 Hatch at your base, you could apply enough pressure on the opponent so that the 3rd Hatch (@ natural) would be completed and on the way being saturated - making you run out of 2 bases with 3 hatch+Queens for enormous larvae production pretty early in the game, leading to you overwhelming your opponent

I've only really given this a try 2 times (and failed both, one due to air - clumsy me=P), but I felt I really enjoyed that kind of play and I just wanted to see if any other had found a working build for this strat to work

That can be true of expanding / getting a second hatch in general. at least in your base, its more protected then at the natural.

Its a different build that I experience when people do this double hatchery in their base, they seem to get it first before anything, which leaves them prone, no pool or no queen.

If they were to build it at a time in which they would have built an expansion... The question is why don't you then? Your gonna have the production capabilities but not the resource to support it. Or your just gonna have a mass number of lings and nothing else...
