Thread: First HoN tournament has a $40k prize pool.

Default First HoN tournament has a $40k prize pool.

One of the first HoN tournaments will have a $40k prize pool and a 1st prize of over $10k, meaning there would be around 2k per player on the winning team.

Puts any current SC2 beta tournaments to shame, doesn't it?

It puts any SC tournament out of Korea to shame. TL's biggest foreign tournament the TSL had a prize pool of 25k or something.

How does it put SC2 to shame? The fact that there are tournaments with thousands of dollars for a game that's not even complete is quite the testament. Also, with Blizzard so far in firm control of the pro-scene for SC2, and the fact they sponsored GomTV with 50,000,000 WON ($44,000~USD), I think the $40,000 prize pool here is going to be dwarfed all in good time.
I really need to change this...

To be fair, SC2 is probably going to be in next years WCG (PROBABLY, though it depends on how things pan out), and BW has been in WCG since the beginning. 2009 WCG winner for BW walked away with $10,000 and some prizes (and the total pot for CS was over $80,000 with gold taking $35,000). This is 5 times what an individual gets for HoN. Though it is still cool to see more and more tournaments being sponsored for big money.
