Default Difficulty of targeting SCVs building a structure

In SC2, it's phenomenally difficult to focus-fire on an SCV constructing a building (unless it is a missile turret). Do you guys think that something should be done to make it easier? :[

focus fire when units around is hard, but when you're only harrassing at the beginning you can always issue the attack ground command near the building.

I just use A-move near the building. Workers are the #1 attack priority so if it's in range to attack, it will be attacked. Works fairly well although I haven't tested it properly
I really need to change this...

I think the most common situation where inability to target SCVs is really annoying is when there's something like a forward Bunker going down, and there's an SCV and a Marine nearby, because then you can't just issue the a-move order with workers and have them kill the SCV :[.

Also, when you're in an opponent's base and there's likely to be other units around, it's difficult to focus on a specific SCV. :[

I found it pretty annoying too, svc should be over the structure not under. Making it spotable immediately and targetable easily.

Is targeting SCV builders harder in SC2 than it was in SC1? Yes. Does that imply that it should be made easier? Not really, no.

It goes to show you how well SC1 was designed by having the SCV's hover over the building...

Nope! It's all good! Unless you're ready to give back the HP that we lost in that other patch

While that did make it easier to target the SCV, I humbly request we place 2 thoughts in our minds as we ponder the OP's question: 1) Did the graphics capabilities of the SC1 era support the SCV building the building partially inside? No, not really. (2) It is a rare moment of imbalance in SC1 because a Protoss or Zerg building could not be stopped anywhere near as easily. The "hiding" of the SCV is a valiant and endearing attempt to correct this oversight. That killing an SCV that is building a building is even possible is still an imbalance, but one necessitated by the need to balance general construction habits with the Terran's uniqueness therein. If you really think about it, except for turrets and bunkers, these buildings are all much larger than an SCV and it makes sense that at least part of the construction cycle should take place inside.

In conclusion, SC2's handling of this is both a natural and a necessary evolution of the construction mechanic to attempt to balance an unintended imbalance created by Terran nature. I say, well done Blizz. Well done.

Seriously, you're arguing that it should be EASIER to kill the scv and harass/stop Terran building production, when Zerg and Protoss don't have to worry about that? I lose an average of 1-2 scvs every game against good z/p players because they come in and a-click my barracks, and that measly extra 5 hp means that my scv doesn't have a fighting chance - I either lose another 2 scvs from my mineral line to replace the current one (one to fight the probe/drone, the other to continue building), or my production gets halted indefinitely.
