I think they just tweaked A LOT of units's movement styles and people are just noticing these.
I've watched Patch 11 videos and compared them to Patch 10 and 9, nothing has changed.

The "pros" of SC2 havent fully adjusted to late game economics, so they dont know how many production buildings to use. There are also build "cycles" where every building is already producing, and as soon as they finish the current unit all of (or most of) their resources are spent at the same time for the next cycle.

RabidDeer , so you telling me suddenly in patch 11 they don't know how many production buildings they need to spent all their resources and the patches before they knew ?
Watch the replays closly from this patch and before older ones . Resources are stockpilling because of the speed increase. What is happening now is that players turtle more because of the increased resources .

What I meant is that, unless I'm completely mistaken, replay speed has always been different from in-game speed. That's why you had to look at the game clock rather than have a stopwatch if you wanted to compare replays and games (which sucked... because you couldn't see the time in game).
If that still stands, that would mean that perhaps the in-game speed was aligned with the replay "faster" speed, which means that replays won't have changed a bit.
You're right though, that you could just compare two in-game vods to confirm this.
I really don't know about all of this replay speed, in-game speed or post-patch speed increase, but I'm just speculating.

I am not playing into the card of it being faster or not, merely pointing out the fact that most games dont go beyond 15-20 minutes, so once you get into the 30+ minute range (you never provide a link to the games, so I cant watch) then obviously their macro slips. You also potentially ignore the production cycle aspect and focus only on the high points instead of how quickly that high point dissipates.
Also, game speed wouldnt really effect macro since they would just focus more on macro instead of micro. The limitations of your macro in high end play is limited by production buildings not by APM.

What's the point in making a game where player's skill will plateau before the game is even released? BW has been played for 12 years and the pros are still getting better.
It takes decision making and mechanics to make a great player, but one of those two reaches it's plateau much earlier. The hard part is finding a balance between the two, and that's a challenge for both the players and the game designers.
And of course the "pros" (as you call them) still have a lot to learn. Even with 200APM it still takes time for your muscle memory to sink in. Do you think that a slight shift in the meta-game, that probably won't last any longer than a few weeks, will matter in the long run? (and that's accepting this shift even exists...) It's just about adjusting.
Faster doesn't mean dumber. This might affect mechanics a lot, but it also affects decision making. If the game goes X times faster, that's X times more intel/ressources wasted when you haven't scouted/expanded yet. If your hands can't keep up with your head it's your own fault and you need to learn to prioritize better: decision making.
Disapproving of this change is like saying you don't want the skill plateau to be higher, unless of course you can think of ways to increase that plateau through decision making without making the game overwhelmingly complicated.

If you guys played during launch week, the first few days was dramatically slower than what it is now.
It was rare to get into 200 supply due to the speed of the actual game. Yeah I'm definitely hitting max supply much faster now.
But yes, the game has sped up.
They are most likely taking data from each sets and deciding on the final speed (For Official Ladder games) of the game for launch.
