Always wondered why people talk about large diamond engraved
neckalces and europeean mountain ranges when they talk strategy?
Me too, thus I want to pile up a thesaurus for those who wonder
what these strange words seemingly out of context mean.
Help me fill in things I have missed or defined wrong. Will add by editing to keep it all in one place.
GENERAL
AC = Allied Control
AOE = area of effect
APM = actions per minute
Cheesing = Risky unconventional strategy designed to take your opponent by surprise.
Mostly in the form of early rushes where you build in or around your opponents base.
Choke = Choke-point.
A narrow area of the map where ground units are forced to pack together resulting in less combat power.
Corn = High Yield Minerals
Expansion = a resource node other than the main, can also be called Expo for short.
FE = Fast Expand
gg = Good Game
Polite ending of a game. Usually said first by the losing player(s).
glhf = Good Luck, Have Fun
Polite start of a game.
Gold Expansion = an expo with high-yield (yellow) minerals
Hard [unit] = a player building lots of one unit.
examples: hard ground, hard air, hard robo, hard M&M, hard zergling, ect...
Main = Starting Base of any player.
Natural = Closest and most ideal expansion
Resource Node = a location containing minerals and gas
Turtling = Defensive strategy.
A strategy where you create a defensive shell around your base, effectivly making the enemy suffer major losses, opening his base for an attack.
The turtler usually has a small yet mobile army to poke the opponent now and then.
