    Default 2v2 Protoss team tactics.

    Hiya!

My gf got beta about week ago, and now I've started thinking about playing 2v2's with her, and as we're both Protoss players, I've tried to think strategies for us.

We're both low ranked Bronze-league players, and not experienced with 2v2, haven't played even placement matches yet. We just played few matches against AI to learn the maps.

What tactics there is for dual protoss team? Any ideas, suggestions, replays to see?

Basic thing that I've thought, for example:
    - Another player masses Stalkers with +1 attack while other spams Zealots with +1 shield/armor upgrade or both, Zealots acting as tanks while stalkers can do the damage basicly unharmed. This way Zealot spammer can give some of his/hers gas to Stalkerspammer.

Both can tech to charge and blink, and Stalkerspammer can flank the enemy base while Zealots act as big bait. Even if the strike team is annihilated, the damage done to enemy base(s) would be devastating.

This is just simple stuff, I'm looking for more variety and detailed tactics, like what to do against what races, or just ideas and people's experiences.

Basicly anything about dual-protoss 2v2 is welcome here :)

The most important thing in 2v2 is teamwork. Since your playing with ur GF get teamchat or just play next to each other so communication would be easier.

Dual protoss is good for early cheese IMO. Both can get proxy together and aim the player who is not terran. Pumping zealot into ur enemy base early can scare them and have early win rush is better than letting it drag.
If it does drag then use go tier 3 tech. 2 motherships if u are able to get it should be enough to win the game.

I'm thinking that a combination of Stalkers/sentries and Immortals/chargelots would do some terrible terrible damage.

But for early/mid game, chargelots and stalkers are definitely a good thing, coupled with a few sentries for some ranged dmg protection and FF. Also, proxy pylons are absolutely awesome on 2v2 maps, since it's not that easy to scout 'em.

My two prefered P&P strategies are

    - One player SPAMS Stalkers and the other techs fast Robo and pumps just Immortals and Colossi. It lets each player focus and makes life easier for everyone.

    - Both players go Stargate and proceed to imba rape the shit out of everything with Void Rays.

One strat that i have seen is that 1 rushes to VR and 1 masses up stalkers (5 or 6 gate). and the stalker army can press, defend, kite, and whatever it needs to do till the VR players hits critical mass, then its GG. stalker army can pin down the anti-air and the VR and get rid of the ground forces.

I've had several games where dual P did this and it just hurts...

So Void Rays are killers :> I've seen this in replays and gotta admit that it seems really powerfull. They're just so expensive that it's always risky x(

Probably going to establish general strategy for Zealot + Stalker attack -> Zealot + Stalker attack with charge and blink -> then go for Void Rays and Stalkers. Of course few sentries everywhere.

Is there any general advices for tactics in 4-armies-clash-with-each-other situations?
If, let's say, terran and zerg opponent are gathering M&M + Roach&Muta army and we scout that while we have our Zealots and Stalkers(and few immortals coming) around the same numbers, should we expand before the big fight to ensure that if we survive the fight with only few units we can build new forces, spam more units, or make a flank attack with small strike team to one base when they launch their offensive?

In general, what we should do in this imagined scenario? I myself believe that taking like 5 stalkers to enemy base, blinking their way to mineral lines to wreck havoc and then engaging with main army against opponents' army, will cause them to panic a bit, perhaps even pull their forces back.

    I need a drawing board @_@

1 player goes zealots collosses and other player goes stalker immortals
a good combo i think is one player goes stalkers and other player gets a obs and you fast blink to get in enemies base

Btw one simple tip that I realized: making a pylon, or two, to ally's base could easily save the day. You're going to make those pylons anyway so better to put them somewhere where they can help you later.

Remember though that you can NOT warp-in to ally's pylon power. Noted, that would be bit too imba.

Agentheart: I've been exploring the maps for that kind of tactics there's spots to blink up from very unexpected corners of the bases, and all you need is some shift-clicking.

We just played our placement matches, won 4 out of 5. Two were really bad players though ^^' but rest were at least experienced, and one team just annihilated us so badly.

Got to silver league where we won our first match against dual zerg spamming ZILLION mutalisks. Tried to counter them with phonixes(the new buff is awesome and should be used against mass mutas!) but forgot that they need to be microed and they just died x(

I think it's pretty good match for us, not counting the massing-phase. Gasp moment at the start.

Quick question. How do you select a partner for 2v2 ladder matches? I thought that you could only play with random people?
