Default StarCraft 2 unit models close-up with detailed history

Phill Gonzalez, a Blizzard artist, who has modeled and textured many of the things in the game, has posted up detailed close-up pics of the models and provided a short history for each model.

Kudos to Arkceangel for the Terran avatar and sig!

Awesome. Will spend the next few days going over this stuff.

Neat! You learn something new every day!

This was a great read. I enjoyed the history and thought process that went into the creation of each unit. Thanks so much for sharing!

There's a reason why Edward Longshanks was an evil git in 'Braveheart'! Down with the shanks! All of them!

No Ghost/Nova. Would've been interesting to see the evolution from the Ghost unit to the hero versions - i.e. see what elements they felt were essential in order to keep them looking similar, etc.

Also, I wanna see Aiur Chef!!

What a delight! And I'm glad that he confirmed he is working for the HotS because I like his designs

At one point Sammy completely scrapped all the previous iterations and asked for a remodel that looked just like his concept. This started the process all over again until we arrived at the current art looking more faithful to the Stalker concept but merging with the design ideas we’d discovered during the numerous revisions.
This makes me feel pretty special, since I had made a LOT of input about this design needing to look like the concept art, for anyone who remembers it back in the day on the BlizzForums.

    Thanks a TON for sharing.
