Did Blizzard just leak the beta date?

They'd have to be like ramming their head into the keyboard to make a typo that erroneous.

if it's playable than yes, but why someone with a CPU P4 and a AGP GPU card should get it instead of me? while I'm sure that I will play at maxed settings...

I know people who work for other companies who do the same request for system specs even if they place the beta keys in a random fashion without information on that.

It can be more useful for them to see if a person is BELOW system specs to see the effect and bugs on it's systems. It can also provide good information for them to see if a person upgrades a computer if it changes any data provided.

Another point I don't see posted is related to finding out sources of bugs. If they have no [insert video card here] in the office but find that a bug appears on any computer with [video card here] then they can communicate with the company who produces the video card and work with them if needbe to provide information for a new driver or find information to resolve it on their end.

The majority of reasons is to also help identify the REAL system requirements instead of theoretical system requirements. So if you're below the theoretical system requirements, you still might have a chance

The way I look at it is that this iccup season is over 9/1/09, and beta or some progress should have at least been made by then. In the mean time I'll reach for my all time high rank.

some more encouraging beta news:

Blizzard is starting to gear up for the StarCraft II Beta, the company said recently in an email sent out to game writers.

The email, which asks game writers to make sure they have a Battle.Net account set up and a request in, says that Blizzard has no date yet to announce for the start of the beta. The email ends, however, by saying that all Battle.net account login info for game writers needs to be sent to Blizzard by June 19.

Sounds like reason enough for me to start getting excited.

Send us your Battle.net account login name and we will flag you for access to the SC2 beta when we begin admitting press. You do not need to go through the opt-in process.



We do not currently have a date to announce for the start of the beta test. There will be no NDA associated with the beta so you�re free to write and take screens or video as you please.

Exciting! But do you think it's legit? There should be other reports of media outlets getting invited, and so far I'm not finding any. Could be Kotaku was given precedence, or others just haven't reported the news yet.

Not really.. only asking basically for their email address they are using to register (if its not the same email they just got emailed to).. Not like its asking for a PW or even an address or anything.

Sounds legit to me.. the only odd part is having the URL to battle.net having the ?rhtml=y at the end. thats odd, they should just of put us.battle.net (wait.. is that kotaku even in the US?)
