the thing is, sentries are a rather hard counter, and a mix between canon defense + sentry + phoenix will make it very hard to make the mutas worth the investment.

since spire takes so long to get up, i rarely go mutas unless iv already established a healthy advantage - especially with concerns to gas income / tech level.
I am an enthusiast of good strategy games, sc2Esports and rollplay, although i dont really play anything atm.
I work an internship at a government agency this fall, and have a good time at it.
I'm being more social, active and honest lately. in all forums.

Protoss will never have enough Phoenixes + Sentries to effectively repel Muta-eco-harass. Sentries, as far as I know, are effective against Muta only in gigantic numbers - 100 Mutas are killed by 100 Sentries. The problem is - you rather kill your opponent with mass Muta than mass Sentries.

For cost, phoenix or sentry beat muta o.0 and thats without cannons included.
People have this notion they should be able to counter mutas with like 1 phoenix like its sc1, its no different than not knowing 6 banshees are coming, if your not prepared for air units then your going to die!
Not to mention its hard to even get alot of muta out with the constant pressure protoss can apply.
Throw down 2-3 cannons behind your minerals and you should be set.
Also since the buff to stalker damage, there pretty damn good vs mutas too

Now that said mutas are very powerful units, if you don't scout them the game is over. Or at least be aware of a possible muta swap and prepare accordingly!

Psi Storm is interesting now, its really not as good as it used to be....but its still pretty strong and feedback is really good as well!! They can't make storm any better than it is now because with smart casting it would wreck everything so easily. Its still damn good though

Archons do 25 + 10 to light at 3 range and DO have splash, btw.
Their range is 2, just to fix it.

and this is why the Phoenix is being re-worked...according to Blizz. Actually at this point they couldbe nerfing it for all we know, the nerf/buff hammer is very unpredictable at this point now

Hey, same with me, I can swear I was reading 2, if they don't have 2 attacks, then it is 2 range since I am positive I have seen number '2'.
Mutas has range 3 and Archon should have a bit shorter range than Mutas, it is or 2.5 or 2.

Also, when I was watching that game, I was pretty sure that Archons didn't have Splash. I guess it is really really small radius.

Didn't the Archon used to have a chain attack much like a mutas?
