The funny thing about the dark shrine is that it's the only building required for tech which doesn't do anything. So even if it loses power, the Dark Shrine doesn't do anything anyways.

I feel it was a bit silly to have it, considering all dark templars required in SC1 was a templar archives, and it contained upgrades for both high templar and dark archons.

You know, I've felt the same way. Thinking about it though, it could be disconcerting to each templar type to train in the presence of the other, so perhaps lorewise this may be a better situation even if it adds a fairly weak building to the mix. The Aiur/Shakuras Protoss rift, though healing, may have necessitated this as a method of preserving the peace. (Note: speculation)

Maybe they are saving somthing for the Dark Shrine for the Heart of the Swarm.

Interesting. Now players can do interesting strats to bury/hide their tech buildings. Fly a warp prism to a remote location off the beaten path, convert to pylon mode, warp in shrine, fly away...and a scanning Terran may never know what's coming until it's too late.

Bug or not I like it!

It is interesting to continue on the note that this bug/intent was possible in SC1 that Blazur's strategic note is also possible in SC1, if you had the terrain to do it on. Of course, you would have had to destroy the pylon to maximize the hiding.

The best fix would be to require pylon power/creep for the tech to be available. But would this give Terrans an advantage? To an extent. The advantage is dulled by the need to swap Tech Labs/Reactors onto buildings. True equality would be to require Labs/Reactors for all tech/units, but this may make Terran a little bit cumbersome to play. I do not think Terran would need a change to balance pylon power/creep necessity for the other 2 races.
