Default The Unofficial Community SC:L Sectional Tournaments!

Greetings, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to the official Community Sectional Tournaments of StarCraft: Legacy!

This tournament is designed to let people of all skill levels have a chance of being involved and having a blast. Towards that goal, the tournament has been divided into sections based on your current league.

Please keep in mind that both SC2 and this tournament are in the beta stage, as we'll be fine-tuning the procedure over the months to come to make sure that it is up and working just fine once SC2 goes retail. Without further ado, here's how it works.

    Sections
Each section is based on a league: Copper, Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. If you have changed league several times, choose the highest league you've been in. You can always try again in your current, lower league if it turns out you're way out of your depth. The purpose of putting things in Sections is to make it as fair, and as fun, as possible for people of all skill ranks. So please try to be as honest as possible when it comes to your league, and remember that we can always check up on your story if it seems a little fishy

    Rewards
At the moment there are no rewards (other than glory) but I am in discussion with the Admins and several people who are significantly better at certain things than I am about possibilities involving certain things. I hate to be vague, but I really don't want to say something will happen and find out later it won't. So be patient, and remember that the primary purpose of these tournaments are to have fun and enjoy yourselves.

    Signing Up
As of this moment, the SC:L Sectional Tournaments will occur on a monthly basis. This means that you will sign up for each month's particular tournament. This may seem a bit convoluted, but it is designed so that people who have gone up (or down) in leagues can be positioned in their respective leagues every month. No matter your league wins or losses, you will find each month that you have a Section just for you.

Due to the nature of progressive matches, there will be a minimum number of people required for each section. If the minimum is not met, we may have to merge sections. So it is important that you sign up and include your league so that everyone can be counted!

    Format
The tournament will be arranged in a pretty standard format with Opening Rounds, Semi-Finals, and Finals. The Opening Rounds are Best of 3 matches, and the Semi-Finals and Finals will both be Best of 5. If for some reason this doesn't end up working, we'll fix it.

    NA and EU
The Sectionals will be available to both NA and EU members. Please, when you sign up mention which one you are on. If you are not sure which one you are on, then we can find out for you. I haven't heard back from my recruiting efforts, but rest assured that there will be someone (or several someones) who will be watching over the EU side of the tournament.

Times, Arranging Matches, Referees and other Random Crap

To be as flexible as possible, once enough people have signed up, players will see who their opponent is. IT IS VITALLY IMPORTANT THAT YOU CONTACT YOUR OPPONENT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE TO ARRANGE YOUR MATCHES. Because so many people have so many diverse schedules it is better for each matchup to arrange their own matches rather than have set days that people may not be able to attend. Once you have agreed to a set day/time for your matches, please contact me or one of the other referees, which will be listed as I recruit them. We would very much like to be present to watch

It is very important that you be swift about organizing your matches and getting them done as soon as possible so that we can advance to the next round of play.

If you and your opponent cannot come to an agreeable schedule, contact me or another referee and I will see what I can do to arrange something.

ONCE YOU HAVE COMPLETED YOUR MATCHES IT IS VITALLY IMPORTANT THAT YOU SEND YOUR REPLAYS TO ME. The replays will serve the function of both making sure there has been no foul play, and also to chronicle the entire progression. Once the tournament has been completed it will be available for all to watch.

    HAVING FUN
This is the most important section. Don't feel bad if you do terrible, and don't feel as if people are going to harshly criticize your replays. The point of this community is to have a great time playing together. If you wish to have people make suggestions on your play, there are tons of people around here who can do so (civilly, of course).

Remember, this is a beta of the tournament so there are bound to be hiccups along the way. If you have suggestions or problems, don't hesitate to message me about them. I'll do my best to make sure that these tournaments are as fun as possible for all involved.

    BIG EDIT!
I am also hoping to get some 2v2 sectional tournaments together. If you have thoughts/suggestions/etc. on such a plan, please message me!

Sign me up. I'm a Platinum player ranked 6th in my divison but I usually seem to get high Gold players so, if it's in the rules, set me up against Gold players. I haven't had much time to practice due to school but I will be now so I think I can handle Gold now.

Hopefully, Blizzard is will fix the sound blaster issues which prevent me from using sound

I completely forgot to mention (and am currently editing the original post for this oversight) that there will be 2v2 sectionals as well. These will be a bit more in-depth to arrange so there is no sign-up end date for them, and there may not be as many sectionals either.

If you have never 2v2ed with someone and do not know what league you would be in...I'm not sure. We'll figure that out!

If they aren't on the same day then sign me up for 2v2 as well. I'd like to pick Maul as my partner if possible and if he's available. We did our initial placement matches and got platinum but that doesn't mean anything since we haven't played any platinum players yet.

Tychus, we'll put you in 1v1 Platinum for now. Don't worry, you'll have plenty of chances to enter tournaments =)

2v2 might be a bit harder to accomplish, but I sincerely want to pull it off. Check with your partners first, and then try and place and see what league you end up in. If you want to 2v2 but need a partner, mention it!
