Thread: [Prism, Medivac, Overlord/seer] Cargo Space Upgrades

Default [Prism, Medivac, Overlord/seer] Cargo Space Upgrades

I know this may not make it into this particular game. However, what do you guys think about cargo upgrades? This would allow you to in late game fit more units into a single dropship(or equivalent) than normal.

I think this idea would add a bit more usefulness to small drops. I know they are useful already, but it doesn't hurt to make them more useful in late games.

I also think that it might be nice if they had some additional armor upgrades to make it slightly harder to kill a dropship when the big time fire power comes out late game.

    What do you guys think?

I have no problem with Cargo Space upgrades. Its all balance-able.

However, I disagree with the notion this upgrade would be required to allow a MedEvac carry a Thor (as I know that's what this thread is about). Thor's should be transportable by vanilla.

No this is completely different. I agree with you that a thor should be able to be carried by a regular medivac.

I'm talking about rather than 8 marines, maybe 12, or 3 tanks instead of 2.. etc..

I'd say make it so instead of 2 tanks, it could be 2 tanks and 2 marines (which gives them light AA). I think that's the only way it could be balanced - a three tank drop would be pretty annoying to counter before it did some serious damage. That's all numbers though. I like the idea in general, but would prefer if it was a smaller (thus cheaper, earlier tier) upgrade.

What? Than why have you been arguing it shouldn't be "because its too big" in the other thread?

I believe this upgrade is available in the Terran campaign, but as one of those between mission things. But I don't know how much extra space it provides.

Because I was thinking in terms of the old dropship, not the new medivac. Since I realized the medivac is new, the lore should be new as well, thus allowing a lot of room to say a medivac is capable of holding a thor only.

Even with this upgrade, there should still be a 1 thor only limit on the medivac.

Why donīt we look at the reason Upgrades exist in the first place? Upgrades change the unit matchups, best seen in BR1 with the Zealots charge which changed their behavior against Marauders.
Itīs not always obvious (what use is a non-Siegetech Siegetank?) in that case the intention is a balancerelated delay.

Therefore: Why does it have to be a upgrade? Might as well make the capacity higher from the very beginning. What counts in the end is the final power of the unit not the initial verson (NonSiegeTanks would be horribly overpriced).

I'll agree for the Prism, but for the Dropship I'd prefer a speed/armour upgrade, something that makes it more survivable, rather than something which makes it more efficient.
