Default Zerg were better off with the Overmind

Does anyone else think this? There's just something about a hostile, genius, unfathomable, ancient cosmic intelligence that is just so much cooler than Kerrigan is by at least a factor of 10.

The only problem with the overmind was that it's only purpose was to become "perfect", what a lame ending would it be.

But if you get Kerrigan as the leader you can say goodbye to the order and hi to chaos. Kerrigan is a volatile explosion of ideas and alternative ways to use the swarm for personal issues. Besides being far sexier and an actual figure to fear in combat. Unlike the giant brain you might as well see from space.

I actually would fear more Kerrigan if I don't know where she is... but knowing that she is hunting me... even within my mind.

Unfortunately, Kerrigan can also come off as a bratty girl .

    Overmind all the way! ^_^

I don't really like Kerrigan, but The_Blade certainly has a point in that her existence opens up more story options for the swarm.

I'll never forget that little speech the Overmind gives you on the first swarm mission in the original Starcraft, though.

Gosh, the Overmind's voice was one-of-a-kind.

    When I first heard that opening monologue in the first zerg mission, I was like, ". . . holy . . . fuck . . ."

The Overmind's time has come and gone.

It could not interact with its environment or with the enemy. (When did the Overmind ever speak to a protoss? Ever?)

Meanwhile, Infested Kerrigan pulled off an amazing coup in the Brood War, taking control of Raszagal and essentially making the protoss her puppets. Even when she got a bad surprise (the UED) she sweet-talked* allies into helping her take them out.

*Because, unlike the Overmind, she's capable of interacting with non-zerg!

I'd rather have the SC1 days - with the Overmind being in charge and Kerrigan being a subordinate. The Overmind is much better off as the leader. There's no reason the Overmind couldn't talk to non-zerg either. When his mind touched with Zeratul would have been a good opportunity.

I disagree. The Overmind and cerebrates all had the same problem, with Kerrigan being the only agent capable of interacting with the outside world.

Also, the Overmind was an even weaker link than Kerrigan... same with the cerebrates.

We never once saw a cerebrate interact with the outside world, either, at least until that one scene in Queen of Blades (where Zasz reveals he's a dunce).

I'm glad they're gone. Queens are cooler, and don't need to be immortal, either.

The Overmind was epic! They should had keeped it, and Kerrigan as a subordinate, then they would have the better of two worlds, but what's done is done.

They even commited the error of introducing and killing a second Overmind. Doing that yet again would be the lamest thing in the world, so the Overmind is killed for good, i fear.

There is something about a dark, mysterious, terrible presence as an evil boss that cannot be replaced by a more mundane enemy.

Dumdumdum! But duran has succesfully merged zerg + protoss meaning an overmind + an archon creating the most powerfull unit ever with super strong psionics and inteligence.
