The only time I ever see phoenixes is when I start moving through my opponents base with brood lords, and even then, they aren't extremely affective since they don't have bonus damage against the armored brood lords. Why do you guys think that is?

Perhaps it's because it can't attack ground very much? Maybe they should make it's ability cheaper so they can use it more often. Or perhaps let the phoenix that cast the spell to continue firing, so you can harass with only one phoenix. What are your guy's opinions on phoenixes?

Making the phoenix use it's ability every time it wants to attack ground is a bad idea. The reason you don't see the that much is they're kidda a anti air only and not even the best at it (I think vikings are better, not sure though). Protos seem to just stick with stalkers and sentries for AA as they're part of their normal army anyways.

Its because pheonix dont have much return on investment. you have to mass them in order to beat Mass muta and outside of that they have no combat value. They are only good at harrasment and they suck against armored air. Im not saying they suck in general. They are very good against zerg for olord hunting and queen sniping but other than that they have a really low combat value for their cost and the investment it takes to get stargates and use chrono boost to bring them out is a bit too high for their low combat value.

ya there are guys out there that can make beautiful things happen with the pheonix and NonY is one of them howeve imo they arnt that great against mutas because you almost have to go 1v1 with them. Pheonix can win you the battle but not the match.

If you change the attack to 7+3 (from 5+5) and lower the energy cost of graviton beam to 25, they'd be used a lot more.

Right now they're almost useless vs terran outside of lifting tanks/thors, and are only used at a non-pro level for overlord hunting and muta countering.

ya because stalker/sentry is alot better interms of cost and dps. you also have great mobility in the stalkers and sentries are the perfect support with their shields. The best part is they they can actually attack buildings. Imo the pheonix should do 10+10 to light maybe a bit less if they waist mutas to good with that. they need some love from blizz and blizz needs to realize that they arnt making this game for themselves alone. They may be happy with the pheonix to muta kill ratio but alot of Toss players arnt.

The only thing about phoenixes in my eyes is that at least their gas cost should be reduced same like the viking to 150/75 , BUT as i saw in that replay that really didn't bother the protoss player he even got robo bay+collosi/extende range
