Thread: Beginnings of an RPG

    Default Beginnings of an RPG

I was bored so I started to mess around with the editor trying to learn stuff and made the beginnings of an RPG.

    - Melee class (though with items can become ranged, will end up changing the item to be class specific :P) that has a blink without cooldown, changed the model of blink from the stalker so that it doesnt become a stalker to blink :P
    - Ranged class, nothing special just a marine hero
    - Caster class, nothing special but I did change storm to cost 10 energy and deal tons more damage
    - 2 example items from a tut I followed (1 modifies run speed, the other is a weapon) that can be equipped
    - Hero levels
    - "Boss" fight with boss health bar (and death dialog)

I may eventually make an RPG map, since I do have a story and ideas for what I want to happen, but I am terrible with terrain. So, if I ever do follow through I am gonna want somebody to do that aspect for me >.>

To play it, you have to load it up through the editor then into the game

Neat little thing, have to look at how you got those custom gui buttons to work (trying to get some of my own working so players can switch weapons in my shooter). Can't wait to see what you do with this.

Nice! This is actually gonna help me. I'm doing this really simple arena RPG map and was wondering how to do some stuff about the heroes.

Nice! Hope it helps you out a bit!

I went ahead and added/changed a few more things.

    -Dialog to pick your hero
    -Quest
    -Quest reward
-NPC dialogue (quest dialogue, quest active dialogue, quest complete dialogue, post-quest dialogue that varies each time you "talk" to the NPC)
    -Level-up effect

Next up on my list of things to do are come up with some abilities and a way to train abilities when leveling up. Possibly stats too and more classes. Then I get to spend a week creating items then I can get started on the rest of the map (story, cinematics, etc etc).

    GRARGH, I hate you, RabidDeer!

I spend HOURS just trying to make the editor do the simplest things and then you put together something so amazing seemingly without effort!

It's really phenomenal work! The inventory popup, your item bag. All looking very slick!

My only suggestion is that you find some way to disable the tooltip for the item bag, because it blocks the popup .

    Looking forward to seeing more!
