    Default Destructible doodads

    In the 2 battle reports we could see that there are many variations of destroyable rocks, but since there are 16 different types of landscapes, what other destroyable object could be, or should be implemented to give a greater variation or tactical opportunities?


    -In the city landscape there could be destroyable buildings. ranging from small buildings to skyscrapers. There could be destroyable bridges, which instead of opening a path, like the rocks do when destroyed, would close a path.


    -In the forest landscape there could be destroyable trees or other allien vegetation. You could
    make a map with a forrest in the middle, placed so that only small and medium units could pass through it, so that large and massive units would have to make a path through the forrest by destroying the vegetation.
    Could make a nice tactical alternative to island maps.

    Are you talking just about different models for different tilesets that serve the same function as destroyable rocks? Or do you mean different types of object that do different things?

    Some interesting ideas: an area that blocks LOS until destroyed, or a feature that can be destroyed to release a LOS-blocking effect (smoke, for instance). Areas of walkable terrain that can be destroyed (an outcrop that allows for easy defense of a choke, for instance). Cliff walls that could be destroyed to bury an expansion with rocks (the rocks would then have to be destroyed before a base could be built).

    Harass dodads on char for example like lava pools that will damage ur units untill destroyed. Ice caps that can be destroyed and trees or pilars that can be taken down to make a bridge.

    Smoke and rain were comfirmed from blizzard.

    Mm, kind of iffy on damaging terrain. Maybe useful for single-player or UMS to have that available, but I think it would take away from the focus on your enemy in multiplayer. Plus it would have different levels of impact on different races - Terrans could hide behind it since they are a shooty army.

    If the map is well balanced there shouldn't be any problem with it. It's not worst than having destructible non damaging doodads really. You can always just go around.

    You could shoot at some rocks/snow on a cliff and trigger an avalanche over the unsuspecting enemy army down below.

    I'd love to see some crashed lorries / cars in a huge pile up as an urban version of the destroyable rocks.

    Some huge tanker you'd shoot and it'd explode after a while.
