So I spent all night playing with this. My personal conclusion is that this might not be as imbalanced as it initally appears. Time will tell. Nevertheless for tonight its an incredibly strong strategy.
We will see if it exists in the morning![]()

I saw Orb used it on his livestream for 5-6 matches. And he managed to move from Gold to Plat. He made a few mistakes but still just manage to overrun his opponents. It was sick how he can destroy the forge in the wall-in before the photon can even warp-in. The 1 match he lost was from a proxy gateway which ended up as a base race. Orb's race is Protoss and his zerg isn't good so it'd be scarier if a top zerg player would do it.

I'm sure the intention was to allow Zerg players the same flexibility that is allowed the other races. Ie a terran can cancel a marine before its finished and not suffer any penalties, so why should a Zerg player? This gathering up of larvae does really screw the early game, but later game I don't see it being as imba.
A potential fix for this would be to just make the spawn larvae duration exceed the build time for a drone, this way even if you cancel said drones no new larvae would have appeared from the hatchery by that point. This would of course change early game timings all over the place and would require a lot more testing. So I think going back to the old ways is just going to be easier. I mean, once Queens pop out you have more than enough larvae at times so that the loss of one won't cost you the game. I remember I've had like 15 larvae on one hatchery at one point or another... Was amazing, once my spire popped and I morphed them all into Mutas and proceeded to pwn some Terran![]()

I don't see why this change was necessary lol
It was a part of the zergs style and play to pick when to make drones and when to make army units, now you just always make drones and then if they move out cancel your drones and make military units....and you attualy have more larva if you do this.

Why would they fix it that way Raisk? I think it would work just fine if they made the "drone reimbursement" not give you any larvae back if you've already got 3 or more larvae. This mechanic is only useful in the early game if you screw up honestly. Later it's no big deal with SL anyways.

The way i see it if they move out and I made a round of drones becasue I was greedy I should be punished with a loss and not more larva lol
