I think we're talking about two different things here:
-unit-specific upgrades (like infernal pre-igniter)
-generic attack/armor upgrades
The first type of upgrades give a visual upgrade to the unit itself (zergling speed, combat shields etc...).
The second, according to the OP, now have an icon change. The unit appearance doesn't change, but in the unit selection interface you not only have the 0/1/2/3 indicator but the icon also changes to match the upgrade.
Is that what you meant Nottoway?

Joke?
If I read this correctly, they've been saying they were going to implement this from early announcement. Are you referring to how, say, Banelings roll instead of crawl when they're upgraded? Basically, you're saying there's minor differences in the model when fully upgraded, right?
-- Nevermind. I reread. You meant icons. I thought so at first because of the title![]()

So does the Hellion have any indicator when it's NOT attacking? Or just when it is?

It might look better than the original, but the shield on one side instead of in the back is still not good enough for me. Unlike other most beautiful designs such as the old dragoon, it's asymmetrical, therefore it's proportions are not as good as they should be. They should just move that shield to the back, that's it! it would become symmetrical and the improvement would be remarkable.

I already mentioned the "carrier". I know it's the worst and everyone is complaining. Not everything should be symmetrical, but stalkers would look better if they were, that's why my example was the old Dragoon, which was in fact symmetrical.
still, I believe it would look better on the back than on the side.
