the trick is, you split the DTs in his base. he'll either have to waste 2 scans (therefore 2 mules, or 600 minerals) to get both, or if you're lucky u can ran them away safely during the scans, in which case it's pretty much GG.
unless he has turrets, of course. but if you catch him by surprise, u can take out the turrets in just a few hits, and he'll be defenseless.

I'm gonna have to try it more. The problem is gas. If you're skipping a lot of Sentries and Robo to get those DT's, his M+M+R can kite you forever. As was stated earlier, to get a PF you need Engineering, and that leads right to turrets as well.

If you know hes got Obs, they're most certainly not hovering over his Bay. Its either in your base and he sees it comming, or at his ramp. If you're going DT, the very first thing you should be hitting is his Bay. Once thats down hes stuck with the Obs hes got, which are slow. And seeing as most PvP ignores cannons cause Immortals chew them up, you're in a pretty good spot dashing around past his Obs and sniping.

Maybe it is just the gold league but I find if you happen to have a spare 250 gas to toss up the shrine. Putting in a few DT's into your mixed units adds some rediculous DPS. They are almost never focused.

Oh, I side with DS here.
You get your council - great. Your get your Dark Shrine and DTs great.
You do medium damage if you are equally skilled to your opponent and he is prepped as Terran to deal with it (ie saving 50 energy for a scan, or turrets at entrances).
What is your follow-up tech?
Nothing. You wasted a shitton of gas and did not do enough damage. DTs are still weak in SC2. SO far, the only way they can work if there is absolutely NO detection. even 1 detector = insta-dead DTs... Rines and marauders can 1-2 shot DTs upon detection.
As a game opener, DT is a Fail. However, once in mid game, it can be useful, but I haven't seen anyone do it yet. Hopefully, we can work out the timing to get DTs in mid-game to create the kind of fear it did in SC1...
