    that's just for gameplay reasons. it's meant to be used against large enemy units, not clumps of lower tier units (otherwise they could 1-shot clumps of mutas or vikings)

    hell, according to lore even the battlecruiser's laser cannons have splash - if you watch the in-game cinematic from that one mission where the hyperion comes to the rescue, each of its lasers kills like 5 zerglings per hit. that's kind of expected considering how large the laser cannons are supposed to be.

    as for the carrier ability, I think it's a neat concept but would probably fit the phoenix more than the carrier. make it an auto-castable spell that takes like 10 energy per shot or something, and simply accommodates the normal attack (think POTM flaming arrows in war3)

    Actualy it used to have splash( don't tknow if it stilll has), and a quite big one (hatchery size).
    I'm 100% that Raynors Hyperion yamato has a huge splash range as seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vuJtY3t18ps
    But i'm not shure if they still kept it for multiplayer, or changed it back to no splash.

    Brilliant. Not only it is more micro work for you but for YOUR OPPONENT!

    BY default the air units attacking either stack up or spread in formation type; easy targets for the ability. THen the enemy will want to keep kiting and moving his air units around

    Neat idea. I think a shield battery type skill would be awsome on the carrier

    How about an option to suicide all of the Carriers flyers into a target dealing great damage.
    It would atleast be somewhat costly and therefore balanced , so it wouldn't be so op.

    Overpowered in my opinion. Carriers are already the strongest capital ships. Just imagine the chaos this would bring in twilight fortress or any FFA. I'm completely against this. They could put it back on the MS though.

    I think if any air unit gets the Sheild Battery ability it should be the Mothership

    Well what about the seeker missile? That was my suggestion-remove seeker-add splash to yamato,devastating AoE spell doesn't quite fit on a unit that creates static turrets...First target 250 damage,near that 125 and even larger 50 damage-that will be both balanced and nice...

    Ive always wanted a Protoss Shield-Sharing mechanic. Which helps negate enemy focus fire. It would look like the Sentry's GS and all units under the shield would combine their shields into one for a few seconds. Once the ability finished, the shields would split again, each unit getting back the same amount of shield points. Like a pain-split.

    For example: 6 units with 100 SP are under the spell. That's 600 total SP they share. The ability lasts 8 seconds and in that time they take 300 damage. When the ability ends all 6 units get 50 SP. So instead of 3 units losing all their shields, all 6 only lose half.

    Alternately, it could just be a one unit to one unit share, a good ability for the Archon with its large shields. An Archon and a Zealot are being attacked. The Zealot is up front being attacked. Share your Archon's Shield and both units survive with half health instead of the Zealot being killed and the Archon being untouched.

    Oh, I should have written "to shoot Lings to check the Yamato splash"

    And it's a good thing - because Rays(and many others, say, Zealots) would be totally owned by Yamato.
