I thought we had this thread, but anyway I loved it - it was good fun!

We did but I guess this is for the DVD release. It's a really nice movie. I kinda like the theme song.

Downplay it, he sits in a room full of smoke constantly empty Vials everywhere, hell Watson even announces at one point "what your drinking is meant for eye surgery"

Yeah but I'm talking about actually making it a part of the character, not just a running gag. Drugs isn't all glamor and fun. It can do disgusting and horrible things to a person, so why not explore that?

Though to be fair, RDJ's Holmes probably deviates as much from the source material as just about everyone else who's played him. It's just that it's in the opposite direction that makes it so jarring. If anything, he was a little closer. For instance, Holmes did carry a gun and was as much an expert swordsman and fighter as he was an observant and analytical detective.

That's true. I just expect such great things from RDJ, and Holmes is such an iconic character, that I thought it might be fun if they really gave him some hefty material to sink his teeth into. Instead of just a summer blockbuster.
