SC2 terran music sounds like..... from a final fantasy game with the guitars and violin sounds. good and bad.

Don't you think its better if blizzard went for a new different music for the terran. Don't get me wrong the sc2 terran music sounds great but i think its a better fit for a game like final fantasy or any adventure setting story with a lone wolf hero...like from an anime series.

I know it resembles the sc1 terran themes but you know we just got used to it and loved it, it doesn't really mean that it was the perfect fit, it was just timely.

Terrans are like warfreaks and aggressive and i dont think the cool sounds of the new terran song fits perfect, i think its more for a laid back cool hip universe.

But anyway it still sounds really cool, and i still want it for the terran since there are some part of the music that sounds like going to war. Needs more war epic sounds though. There are 4 current terran soundtracks, they should change the other two to a more upbeat epic war music, the 2 songs below are already great.

Makes me want go to sleep. First is a Ninja Turtles game! 2nd one sounds like from a japanese rpg game ala final fantasy while you are just walking and talking to npc. too BORING....doesn't fit.

I wanna hear something like this for the terran also. ye the rock movie theme imo really fits the terran military way more better.

Also about the protoss music lacks more war epic sounds and have has more gay sounds. They should not relax and meditate all the time, they are in war, give the battledrums sounds. This one should been a protoss theme http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_1U7...eature=related

But in all seriousness, I think the Terrans actually have the best music in SC2. I love 3 of the songs, and 2 are just ok. The Protoss are kinda hard to judge without hearing the whole soundtrack. The other songs may include more of the orchestrated war music you mention. So far, the Terran and Zerg music both feel similar to their SC1 counterparts, but more modern.

Everyone will have their own opinion of what direction the music should go in, and there's no such thing as pleasing everyone when it comes to making anything for a game that's 10 yrs old.


Coming from a Warcraft background, when I played War2, I LOVED the synthed orchestrals that game had. There were clear melodies and the tunes were immediately catchy and hummable. I've even heard my DAD hum the tunes a few times from the amount of times I played the music in my livingroom; where the family computer was situated. Even Diablo's themes were very catchy.

Starcraft came, and none of its score was catchy at all. They're all ambient and 'experimental'. None of it is really memorable the first time you hear it.

But it grows on you.

And that's what I think SC2 music is going to be.

Back to starcraft 2. The Terran music is good, it just doesn't fit at all. It's too calm. This is the direction I'd like them go . See, it's basically the same thing except it's slightly more heavy and slightly less joyful. Or like this too.

For the zerg well they should just go back to what they did before. Their new direction still got the good feeling but it's just nowhere near the quality of the old ones.

Protoss one is kinda fine. They just need to remove the choir part.

Kinda agree with you about some of the tracks, however I usually found myself humming the first terran track from the original game and one of the protoss' ones.

And they absolutely grow on you, I spent several years without playing starcraft because my dad lost the CD -_- however when I got it back and heard the first terran tracks it almost made me cry

For the most part though, I'm not a huge fan of the 'ambient' music for all three races. Although the BW ones eventually grew on me, I have to say that it's still not my cup of tea.

I'm a much bigger fan of War2 music - that stuff is EPIC .

This, so much. I played WC2 back in the day, but not nearly as much as others, and couldn't remember a tune to save my life. So when I listened to them a few years ago they did absolutely nothing for me. They were... pretty lame.

SC, on the other hand, I can't remember ever not loving. The very first time I heard the SC2 tracks, I was super disappointed. "That's it?" By now I'd be ready to kill to keep them in the game.

I agree with everything here, even the posted samples. Though I do think the new Terran Theme 2 is good enough to stay in SC2.
