[Video] Thor Rush vs Protoss

I was watching this replay from an Asian tourney - a place to see many eye-opening strategies.

This particular Terran player wowed me when I noticed he was going for a Thor/Medivac rush. I was worried when I noticed that the Protoss player was going for a Void Ray rush. Despite scanning the Stargate, Maka (the Terran player) persisted with his Thor rush strategy.

I had no idea how he was going to pull it off, since Void Rays are good against Thors, but then Maka makes a play which is definitely PIMP.

With crazay micro, Maka makes the Void Rays keep having to re-acquire targets, preventing them from ever charging up their prismatic beam.

Perhaps if the Protoss had just focused only on the Medivac from the beginning, he would have come out on top of this little skirmish. However, I think that the novelty of this strategy confused the Protoss player.

doesnt this work only becasue the fella doesnt consider targeting the medivac?

maybe its too fast?

it doesnt seem broken anyway, i think if the rays were spaced out they could have flanked the medivac so that it couldnt do that while covered by the Thor as it did

Yeah that's an awesome replay. I agree with todie though, the void ray should have target fired the medivac between pick-up and drop-off. I don't get why the void rays were staying so far all the time.

I'm pretty sure that it was just the novelty of the strategy which threw the Protoss player off :]. It was probably his first time seeing this and he wasn't too sure how to react.
