Easy. Small green dots would burst. Not as thick as the roaches, just a spray, much like the queen's inject but a lot less dense. Add 3-5 small spikes, very small, but a bit greeny, that moves at 2400 projectile speed.

The visual will be noticeable as the attack goes off, but not much with the missiles flying. That's because of the speed.

Add in audio with a little punch and we're done.

I was always under the impression that the green stuff was acid, but that it was just gunk that came out of the chest cavity along with the spines, and that it was easier to see that green stuff.

Who says that their spines aren't embedded in poisonous stuff, just to make them more lethal? Wasn't that written in some of the novels, anyways?

The fact is that a green splash and projectile would be much more noticeable than this. The sound must be completely reworked, it's pathetic.

Its moreso a projectile then spit. Thats the predominant aspect. The fact that like every body thought it was spit serves as a testament to how utterly fail it was.

Thats why it was changed. So people actually got it was a projectile.

Thats because they ARE shooting blow darts. Really big ones.

Its only iconic and distinct because you've been looking at it for twelve years. I guarantee you you'd be arguing the opposite point if it was the reverse scenario.

Newcomplex I disagree in this case. Especially if you also look at what the Hydra is doing itself... in SC1 the animation was such that it looked like the beast was opening its chest cavity... now it just looks like it is twitching. It looks awful.

Newcomplex - ^Yeah, apart from the projectile speed, the new animation IS the more realistic one, but it's also a perfect example on how things can become too realistic.

Don't you find funny how all Scorpio19 do in his post is whine and cry about some things...
Few Months ago, every his signature was something like "Fuck Hellion, Fuck Carrier, Fuck Roach" or something like that. No offense to you Scorpio I just found it hilarious.

Okay, and maybe some people like that. Personally, I feel that a unit that shoots mega blow darts - regardless of how fearsome looking it is otherwise - is really lame in a sci-fi space warfare game.

Right now, in my opinion, Hydralisks are more twisted-looking versions of these things:

I wasn't gonna say it, but now that you brought it up - Yeah, lot's of 'spontaneous combustion' comments as I call them.
